I had a really big laugh when I saw this one. Would you mind posting all 10 when the time's up? Thanks!

I had the first two with no letters and then hit an iceberg and sank.
Great idea for a puzzle.

I figured it would be either a hit or miss. I had a different one I was working on, but it needed more work - so this idea hit late last night.

If people like it this type, we can do it again, but probably not too often and of course, with little to no advanced warning.

Sploofishy - since I can't PM you directly like Plat puzzle writers (which is what I have decided to do from now on) - good job - was flying along doing great til number 5 - which kicked my butt - I knew the context but couldn't come up with the answer until minus 900 points later and then still had to google after the fact to "get it" - reminds me of high school when I THOUGHT I knew the subject and was wrong - bet those higher ups didn't get the one I had - very good job - and good use of prior works and I for one will enjoy the next "pop quiz"

Nice one sploofishy! If I might, I'd suggest making the last puzzle of each month a WP compiled from that month's quizzes. That way no one could cram for them, yet it would reward consisten quiz takers.

Yes, that would be fun... and only slightly evil.

I loved this one, Sploofishy, thanks! Loved the concept -- it was great testing my memory about the previous WPs and revisiting them.

While I see what Revdodd is saying, I think doing these on a regular schedule would eliminate the element of surprise, and for me, that's a big part of the fun. You'd be taking the "pop" out of the "pop quiz." So, I hope they'll just pop up unexpectedly from time to time.

Nobody TOLD me there was gonna be a quiz! I didn't meant to miss two WPs this month. It's not my fault.

Very fun and clever idea. I was zooming along with no letters until I hit an obscure one from a puzzle I hadn't taken. That'll teach me!

great idea!
I blew one (AND it was a clue I'd had problems with the first time so I should have remembered.)
Mea culpa.

Sploofishy: Excellent idea and really run. I totally agree that an end-of-the-month quiz would be hysterical. Was absolutely flying along, then forgot a clue from one I took 24 hours ago. Sucks getting old.

I only missed one puzzle phrase/ clue badly, and it was a fun "change of pace". Novel idea!
Nice '"quick" editing and innovation kudos to Sploofishy!

Darn it, can't find my pen. If you continue to do these will have to write down everything. Loved it.

Just curious if The Mongol Steppes was a trip up for anyone?

I'd gotten killed on the Polish name the first time through, so I had the general idea and got it in 2 or 3 letters.
