STAGED ANY SHOWDOWNS LATELY?

Well.................have ya...........punk?

Or is everyone so busy with 2.0 that showdowns have slowed down? I staged a showdown, then 2 days later staged another, and it's the same person (which I sadly didn't notice). That's never happened before with me - usually there's lots of movement.

I challenged the same player three times in five days. I went 1-1-1. for a total of 1.3 million pts.

I don't like losing on time. Well I don't like losing at all, but especially on time when the difference could be nothing more than whose computer & connection happens to be faster.

I'm with Easy on this one. Most of my losses have been decided by time. Old guys reflexes I guess.

My name is Alvandy. Wanna challenge me?
Put up your dukes. Put up your paws.
I'm fearless.

I just won a million points on a showdown; my opponent was a dormant account.

I do them as soon as I get them.

I'm 8-2 on my last ten. Up to 11 mil wagers now....I'm hoping to get inside the top 200 by the end of the summer.

I'm a research showdowner - I check to see who it's going to be and go look at their profile.

If I felt I stood a chance I'd go for it - the last one I ever staged was against a guy who was a martial arts expert - I looked at his stats and felt - okay - I stand a chance.

The freaking question was an obscure martial arts question which I "got" but had to think back - needless to say I lost -- haven't staged since.

I always respond to a challenge -I've got nothing to loose - but it's been MONTHS since anyone has challenged me - well in a showdown.

Right now I'm just hoarding my vocabulary QOTD until after I hit level 28 - cause I'm a chicken - just color me yeller

I do a lot of showdown challenges and it always amazes me the number who don't even bother to respond. I bet at least 1/3 of my showdown challenges have gone unanswered, as the one I have going right now seems to be. And I always answer showdown that challenge me. I wish more of them would come in!!! You can't lose on them and you just might win a BUNCH of points!

I'm waiting for actorguy to respond, he has less than three days.
Every Sunday morning I have two cups of coffee and then challenge whoever. I don't care who it is or what the category is, I just like the idea of getting all those points. I'm a little better than 50% and am now in the 7 million range for points.

Watch out on Sunday - I'm coming for ya

My computer has dreadful lag problems. Until points given away become tax-deductible, I'm on the wagon.

Jank: We'll be waiting in the bushes when you catch up.

Right now common courtesy prevents me from a showdown ... it would make three times against the same worth foe, and I don't wish to appear rude.

Ficyclist -- the higher the level you go, you get more responses and tougher opponents.

Bleepy -- oh no, please don't challenge me. Anything but that!

Hello all! A showdown has ended without a response from the player I challenged. The time left is showing 0.00 and has been for several hours. I thought the challenge results were updated much faster...do I send in a "player support" ticket? Thank you. Summertime

Summer - there is a lag time when the Showdown received no response and the timer runs out. Just wait - you'll eventually get the results.

Its always been that way. Too bad it didn't get changed with all the rest of the new enhancements. I remember one time, a bazillion years ago, I challenged someone to a showdown and according to the clock, they never responded. I had missed the question, but if they don't respond, you still get the points. So I waited a couple of days while it still showed the time as zero with no response and then it came back with a message that it was a stalemate, even though there was no indication of a response from the other player. I sent in a support ticket but it came back and said the other party had indeed responded even though there was no indication of such. I was kinda fried over that. So you guys doing showdowns who get excited because the other player doesn't respond, be prepared.

You are so right, Pennwoman! It was Sandracam. Stay away from Sandracam like you're staying away from the light - do not go into the light! Penn is probably not one to challenge either. She's way up there! I stand by my earlier post - do NOT challenge the Pennwoman!

Yeah, I have sent two challenges to bluglady and daveguth that haven't been answered yet. I wish you could send out 10 in 10 minutes or one an hour or something. I have way too many because I thought only paying members could stage a showdown.

I love Showdowns! I've won about half of the ones I've been a part of, and the *vast* majority of my points (meager as they are compared to some!) come from Showdown wins. Just won another one today that I took about 8 seconds to answer. I was sure I was going to lose it since it was a sports question and the opponent was a guy (stereotypes ahoy!), so I figured he'd get the answer faster.

Somewhat related -- I'm fascinated that people save up their TQOTD questions by category! I never considered doing anything other than just answering them everyday. Interesting strategy :D

Oh yes Kay... much more likely (although not consistently in my case ) that you'll win your wager in the category that you're best at!

Lisap, I am over 90% in Sports- It was decided Snooker was a sport and I lost two "Big showdowns" within ten days.
But to quote the Sploofusgenies, "It's the Luck of the Draw". The speed factor on this site is not fair either, I have lost seven showdowns where I was right but not fast enough,Baloney. I've always been amazed at Word Rounds + Matches and the speeds players get. I know it is knowing key words, but it doesn't mean these people are smart or know what they are answering. I've taken, and "Passed" government tests for Postal official, TSA and Air Traffic Controler . The only thing that was a little tricky is the audio sections they give. When I entered the Navy, they gave all of us a battery of tests that a perfect score was "72". A guy in my company who couldn't learn to tie his shoes and was discharged before our second week of training scored 71 twice on these tests. I don't know what this says for tests but speed isn't always the answer.

Don't worry about being in one plane and one operator. We were qualified to do five or six fighters at on time going 30 knots ourselves. I think we were qualified. That 72 score was a score pre-basic training.

I have a hard time challenging anyone who has a cute picture of a dog, cat or other critter in their profile. That has eliminated many prospective opponents.
