Fellow foodies, or those that don't know about us yet, please check out the newest post in the "Foodies" group...."For what kitchen appliance would you fight "tooth and nail?"

I would fight for my microwave....
Having just spent monhs travelling across
Canada, and LIVING in hotels and motels,
I can eat frozen dinners, drink tea and instant coffee,
save a bundle of money, it's quick and convenient
and doesn't make a hot room hotter.
With my microwave (and my dog) I could travel the
world unfettered.

A gas range with two ovens and a warmer tray. That would make cooking Thanksgiving dinner so much easier.

Coffee pot. Only thing I use every day.

Heck, who am I kidding. It's the only kitchen appliance I EVER use. Except for the microwave to heat up my coffee if it gets cool.

I say it here because I'm not in the group. I can't/don't/won't cook, and I'd not know the lingo.

it would be a toss up between a bottle opener and a melon baller and since I have an opener on my Danish Army Knife (too cheap to buy the Swiss one) I'll have to say melon baller.

My microwave!!! But the freezer would have to stay, too, for my ice cream!!

But melted Ice cream tastes just as good
especially with sliced bananas or
chocolate sauce

a manual can opener.

consider this: no electrical power after Hurricane Ivan for 10 days. plenty of canned foods and an electric can opener.

a manual can opener is a MUST HAVE !!!!!

My Keurig coffee maker. It's spoiled me for any other coffee anywhere.

Anything that doesn't require electricity; so I think number one would be my grill (although that isn't really a kitchen thingy it is an eating thingy). After Katrina we had no electricity for 6 weeks and the grill was a lifesaver. Also, agree on the nonelectric can opener.
And lots of coolers and lots of ice to store food.

So funny that a manual can opener is mentioned.

Does anyone have a kitchen appliance that just always breaks and must be replaced? It's seems like it's jinxed? For me it's an electric can opener. I will never buy one again. I have the Pampered Chef manual can opener and it the greatest. All their products are.

I agree with the manual can opener for the same reasons but my second choice is my microwave which also has convection capabilities.

This is an interesting question.
