In light of recent threads on forum, I suspect it's time for an oog-post on all of them. Have'nt done that in a while, so now seems a good time. Many of the posts lately have taken a contentious posture, or at least have been percieved as such. I have had some problems on the site, but instead of airing them on forum I prefer to use support tickets and patience. I'm sure that managing a site like sploofus must be an enormously time-consuming, and often frustrating endeavor for Justin, and I don't want to publicly harp about an issue. I know that it can be frustrating as well when a member has a concern they feel isn't being addressed properly, or in a timely manner. But in the long run, what impact does any of this have on our lives as a whole? I'm on here to have fun, and enjoy the friendships I have developed with ALL you folks, and sploofus has become a part of my daily life, as I'm sure it has for most of you too. Essentially it is a diversion from the normal hum-drum of our jobs and routines, so why bring the same stressful and irritating elements in that we could so easily be escaping for a while? The sploofus community continues to grow, and I love seeing all the new names in WR's and other areas of play, so can't we all just get along and enjoy this site for what it is?

I'm assuming that's Oog...and AMEN!!

Look, this is huge world, with lots of folks in it. We all have different personalities, different likes and dislikes and quite honestly no one thing (or in this case web-site) can make everyone happy.

Let me speak for the majority (cause I am president of that club too)...this is an incredible site...with really incredible people here (with some myself). Although it ain't humbles me to know that there are editors and Justin out there listening to our requests. They keep trying their collective butts off to make this a great site that keeps improving day to day.

Perfection only exists in theory. (Ok and in my opinion of myself). If you look for the negative, you will only see the places that need improvement. If you look only for the positive, you will not see the negative.

Getting off the soap box now...

Oogie, you're right. As a general rule, minor beefs should be good-naturedly left aside in the spirit of collegial fun, larger ones dealt with through support tickets and patience, as you say.
But at the same time, don't some of those beefs, whether an accumulation of small ones that describe what a concerned member sees as a pattern, or a single larger one, need to be aired publically when the integrity of the site is at stake?
I'm truly sorry if the critical content of some of my posts ruins the fun for others, but it would be even more damaging, I think, if, by looking too exclusively on the bright side, we inadvertantly established an unspoken code prohibiting constructive criticism.
Respectfully yours,

Never said we should'nt post grievances if there is a question as to their being answered. My concern is the tendency of posting before having attempted other means, and how the mob-rule comes into play when such a post is placed. Mention cheating, and a thousand responses insue, it's human nature to whine.....especially if someone else starts the discussion. The main gist I got from the somewhat confusing post earlier tonight was that it was'nt fun in forum like it used to be. I don't have any other reason for being here than to have fun. If it's something I have to stress over I don't need it, get plenty of that in "real" life, so I have a large tolerance for glitches in the system.....does'nt compare to what I deal with every day.

I don't know what you all said, but I get a kick out of some of this stuff.

Oh, oops, thought you were referring mostly to my post about standards.
That other thread was so out there I'd just written it off.
