I still have a gripe about messages below live quizzes that give answers to the quiz. I have an even bigger gripe about ones that say an answer in the quiz is wrong when it is correct. In one of my latest quizzes I have had comments posted about what is alleged to be an incorrect answer. I have replied showing why the quiz answer IS correct, and I have even had acknowledgements and apologies, but of course none of that ever shows up for other quiz takers to see.

JUSTIN - Once again, isn't it possible to have the Send Reply to Author have it be to Author ONLY? With all the concern about answers to quizzes or TQOTDs being posted in Chat (where they are quickly deleted) why make it so easy for any quiz taker to get answers ahead of time simply by scrolling down the page before clicking on Start Quiz?

Some of the comments are even very rude. I saw one the other day that actually castigated the author for writing what they did.
I certainly don't think that is proper.

I had a problem with a quiz the other day but I sent a message directly to the author. I agree that it is not appropriate for those types of comments to be viewed by everyone.

I think sometimes it is appropriate for that information to be viewed. I took a quiz the other day that had three incorrect answers! Now granted, we are not talking about money or grand prizes, or some solemn titular bestowal, but we should present researched and accurate quizzes to the populace and be aware that spreading inaccurate information snowballs throughout the internet. I questioned the answers, provided researched and accurate alternatives and posted them, both to author and quiz takers. It turns out there were over 30 comments on the most obvious of the mistakes, one comment that cited two, but none that cited three as mine did. This helps people in determining whether they will take another of this person's quizzes. Another time, I questioned an author's commentary because I felt she was slandering a public figure with innacurate information and gave her the citation about it. She replied "well you can find both sides on the internet." Wrong is wrong, inaccurate is inaccurate, no matter how you cut it. Ok, enough, but I know I spend a lot of time researching info before I post. And being human, I still make mistakes and correct them when alerted to those mistakes. But to post inaccurate information, not respond to messages, and leave the material out there is disrespectful to the quiz takers. IMHO. lol.

I think many probably don't realize that they are posted live - only a handful of people post/read the forums as opposed to the people who take the quizzes - I know I can look at the quiz takers and see screen names that I never see anywhere else.

Perhaps a message can at least be sent to every member (like the TQOTD) to at least heads up it while it's being fixed as I know this is one of the stated fixes coming by can hope.

When I have something nice to say I say it as well as (Ihope) kindly worded suggestions. If I didn't like it I say nothing!!

I agree this is a bad thing - but if you take a look at Hotwire you will see that Justin has been focusing on a bigger and more urgent issue.

Please be patient for these smaller problems, and check the Big Reports - there are often messages from Justin on his progress! Scroll to the bottom of the Bug Reports in each category and you will see many have been resolved!

Also it might be a good thing to keep in mind that there is a way to tell folks you disagree with them-dispute an answer or question or source withoout calling thm an A-- h----. Quiz writing takes time and effort and believe quizzes remain the backbone of this site!! If you haven't recognized me yet-my typos will soon chase me out of the "closet" lol Just might add a whole lot of people view posts but do not respond-perhaps they are the smart ones!!.

I took several quizzes authored by a friend. Thinking if I 'checked the box', the comments would go only to her private mail, I wrote a bunch of silly comments, like "this quiz would have been much better had I known more of the answers"...I certainly hope no one takes those comments in any way other than jest!

WB Linda. I think Caramel is a great new name for you!

I had SPECIFICALLY directed my comment to Maurlin, yet it ended up at the bottom of the quiz. I humbly apologized to her not only for my incorrect thinking but also for the fact that my comment ended up under the quiz (WHICH SHOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED!!!), and even offered to clean her house in penance, she graciously accepted my apology.
