I enjoyed it a lot; was lucky to get a helpful clue for my first.
Perhaps sploofus can tell us; I know we get 5/10 clues, but do we always get them in the same order -- that is to say if we get 1 3 5 7 9 and someone else get 1 2 4 7 8 will they too always get clue 1 before 7?

Loved it, Suzanne. Fortunately, I didn't need to use my magnifying glass or microscope. You provided great clues and interesting phrases and made it a fun and memorable mystery about a fascinating woman. Thanks!

Again, I'm just wondering on these puzzles about clue order. I started with 7 (This role made Elizabeth Taylor the highest paid actress in the world ) which was a giveaway.
I seem to remember Phrase 4 – She was once smuggled into a palace while rolled up in a rug - from Shaw's play.
None of the others would have been much help at all in working out the person, except as corroboration for an already-formed idea, which is absolutely reasonable and I'm not complaining. But what it might mean is that if you get an easy clue to start you'lltake less goes overall.
As I say: I'm grateful to have got a fast start, just curious about other people's experiences.

I had the one about the pearl first so that told me who she was. I'm guessing these puzzles arrive in random order just as all the others. Since about half the phrases could help you figure her out on puzzle one and half probably not (unless you're Karnac) I think it's just one of those luck things that seems to even out over the course of the month.

I got the pearl one first too, but never heard that story. Got the Liz Taylor one third, and looking at all ten, that was the only one that would have/did ID her for me.

I think the giveaway clue would have been "asp me no questions." I don't anyone else famous who's died from an asp bite. Although many do make asps of themselves.

Ah, missed that asp was in on the clue set. Needless to say, I wasn't offered #9.

no asp, no Liz... still a really fun puzzle! What an interesting woman.
