In my weekly team trivia event, at half-time (after round 3), I do a bonus question for prizes. What I do is put 5 minutes on the clock, as a tougher question, then start with the last place team at the moment. Each team has 5 seconds when I come to their table to shout out 1 answer. First team with the correct answer wins a prize for everyone at their table.

Does anybody do anything similar and have good ideas for questions? I don't want them impossible, yet too easy either. One of my favorites was when I asked for a particular movie title. I started with two of the more obscure actors in the cast and every minute added a more popular actor/actress. My example is listed below:

What movie title?
Your first clues are: Robert Prosky and Joan Cusak
2 minute clue: Holly Hunter
3 minute clue: William Hurt
4 minute clue: Jack Nicholson
4 minute and 30 second clue: Albert Brooks

Answer: Broadcast News

I am thinking I could do the same with bands and band members. Albums and song titles.

Just wanted to throw this out there to see if anyone else had any creative ideas.

Thanks in advance for sharing!

All we do is a closest to without going over. They write their answer on a piece of paper and bring it up to the quizmaster.

In case of a tie it is the person who got their answer in first.

For example

What is the area in square miles of the Sahara Desert?

Ans: 3,500,000 sq miles

That way you don't need to know the answer, you can just have a guess. That way every team has a chance at winning a prize.
