SOME SERIOUSLY WELL-AIMED FINE-TUNING

As if Sploofus doesn't already get enough pats on the head, just wanted to point out what an ECKSULLINT idea it was to not only organize the threads by the most recent contribution, but to have identified the problem in the first place, since it wasn't even a problem, at least not as far as we lesser beings were able to perceive before it got fixed.
Tis a rare eye that can see such things.

Here Here!

I commend Sploofus for this change. It really makes it easier to carry on a conversation on a thread without it getting lost in the rest of them.

Here's a little secret - Justin tried it out in the Editors' Chat Room first and we all loved it so much we begged him to do the same thing here

He's a marvel, that fearless leader of ours!

Do you have goodies in the Editor's chat room? That isn't fair - we want some perks in here too.

Actually this board is way more fun. You're only missing out on discussions of grammar mechanics. We come HERE to relax, plus it's decorated better.

Okay, okay, I'll take down the 27 verb conjugation posters...but the 10x20 "Ode to the Apostrophe" poster has to stay, and no one's touching my "Proper Use of Contractions" litho! Besides, that one is at least fairly handsomely framed...

ROFL Sploofinator.....Ode to the Apostrophe poster? I was sure that you guys would at least have the new swim suit issue of Sports Illustrated in there and maybe a couple of issues of Cosmo for the ladies.....LOL...

We have to keep "Ode to the Apostrophe" for Mr. Sploofus. That's his area of difficulty, remember?

"Ode to the Apostrophe"

*ahem*

Apostrophe! Apostrophe! How grand art thou!
Thy mystery does time not prevail?
To your grandeur and glory must I now bow,
As I weep and I cry and I wail!

Such elegant form demands much applause,
A dot embraced by a curl.
Despair! Indeed this form is the cause,
No matter if possessive or plural.

Thou hangest above other symbols with grace,
So lofty, so proud, on high!
With a forlorn apostrophic face
Has my literary glee been circumsized.

Yet try as I must, comprehension it flees
Woe to the apostrophe dunce.
But in this I rejoice, if evade you I must,
As this Ode has not used you once!

*ahem*

And then one of Justin's editorial team died in a fit of unbearable laughter, but that's okay cause I'm already dead. That's the benefit to being Countsploofula.

Maybe the queue would move faster if the quiz editors were alive, Countsploofula.

Wait, someone please tell me Sploofus got that ode from elsewhere. He didn't write it. He couldn't have written it. He can't be cleverer than geniuswaitress. No one can. ..

What's Justin's issue?
Apostrophes' rules aren't hard
They're ev'ryones friends!

Surreyman - if you are referring to "ev'ryones" then NO...this is a possessive pronoun and therefore gets no apostrophe ("ev'ryone's" would mean "everyone is").

Was there something else you saw??

Well, *everyones* ain't in my dictionary as a word.
Does not *everyone's* have a dual meaning according to context?

Ok who thinks Surreyman put that 'bad' apostrophe there intentionally, and who thinks he slipped?

I stand corrected Jedley.

I swear I had hunted and hunted to be absolutely sure on this one and I could not find anything definitive...except that 'everyone' is a pronoun and possessive pronouns do not get apostrohes.

But now I have a website that does definitely state that the indefintie pronouns become possessive ADJECTIVES and DO get the apostrophe.

So, mea culpa, pardonnez-moi, ever so sorry... :'-(

Give me a few more days and I'll find a way to fit a seventh ' in that Haiku
