We had a real "houseful" this weekend in our town - through a plan worked out over the past couple of years with the ministerial alliance - we had close to 700 total I believe in the small town of Canton - had the high school, jr. high, intermediate & elementary school gyms filled - several local churches.

They left our church this AM to return home.

Religious and Non-religious alike - I'd like to ask that you pray / send good thoughts their way for a safe return.

My grandparents, who live in Morgan City (and have for 85 years) - have weathered yet another hurricane - as they will not leave - it's not stubborness - as some might think - talk about faith! These old people have it

I hope everybody displaced by Gustav makes it home soon and finds things in reasonable shape.

People should be listening to the major of New Orleans and not returning home, yet. The city is not safe and work needs to be done, first. They want people to wait until Wednesday, or preferably Thurdsay, to return.

Hope you will wait until it's absolutely safe
and that all will be well when you get home

Where were they from??? Ain't no one getting near any parish around New Orleans. The entire area is still shut down to anyone trying to get home.

Re not leaving due to faith, that reminds me of the joke:

"What do you want? I sent three boats for you ..."

I know that one -

My grandfather was a baptist preacher after his stint in the marines in Guadal Canal - came back to the states and was the first person in his family to ever graduate from college my grandmother as well - he taught HS History& English & she taught 1st grade for 38 years. There is no stubborness about the not leaving - Grandpa basically says - if it's my time, it's my time.
