Is it my imagination or am I getting dumber (probably both), but are the hourly word rounds and word matches getting harder ??? For about the last four or five weeks, I have been dumping a lot of these quizzes because I never heard of these words. I don't know who writes these things but it seems like there is a cycle of difficulty that goes from difficult to WOW.
I am speaking for myself and don't want to upset any of the Sploofus Royalty, I was just wondering if it is just me or
maybe (when Justin is back) I can ask for remedial quizzes.

OMG! and I thought it was just me......
They seem to be to me 2.

I think they've added a new list of words into the mix., and they are more obscure. However, I'm still seeing those mega-scores still hog up the leader boards, so the effect hasn't really been too dramatic. My scores haven't really suffered, it ,just takes more rounds to be competitive. The advantage of being gold or platinum.

On Word Rounds- I dump a list quickly too, if the first word is "grecianesque" to me.
I seem to score higher on the leaders list in the Word Matches, so I concentrate more on that game.

I agree! And not only more difficult (and stupid) but too many spelling errors and duplicated answers (which do you check?)

I am finally losing my sploofus addiction. Currently I have just the free membership with only two trials on each Round and Match. It's surprising how much better you do if you only have two chances. This helps me get more time on my ukulele and other things!

And when the folks who always make good time play at the beginning of the hour all the time it is discouraging not to never see your name in the lights!

Oh well... a hundred years from now who will care?

I notice that with 10 tries an hour I don't "dump" as much and I pay more attention to the ones I got wrong. I think I learn more that way and I do better without the temptation to bail-out all of the time.

I just did the WR and WM to test out your theory.
Got my best scores EVER....10 and 11....
so it must be you!!!!
Or I got lucky!!!!

I don't care where I wind up, sometimes I'm just out of it before I start.

Nothing has changed - it's the same database with the same list of words randomly compiled by the computer in the same way for each round.

So it's all in your perception!

Sploofizz lies. And he/she is really mean.

Just my opinion.

Want some cheese to go with that?

Bwahahhaha...I crack myself up.

Well, they may be the same as before, but they seem harder to me, too. I don't even do them too much anymore.

Sploofizz, could you finish editing quizzes before you leave?

I think someone has got hold of a really weird dictionary. Some of those words have GOT to be made up.

Uh, I have it on pretty good authority that every single word in the language was made up.

I've checked out some of the more obscure words in the online dictionary. Incredibly, they are always there.

I must disagree, Mr.Ken. Adam and Eve arrived with a complete vocabulary, if not any clothing.

Sploofizz is just the one who is always willing to share the answer! Like it or not, nothing has been done to the WR/WM database, so maybe the computer that generates them just has it out for you

I must have gotten on its bad side too. I'm finding it more and more difficult to get 100% on the WRs.

Yes it's a classic case of mass hysteria. We all image that it is happening, but Big Brother says 'NO' thus it cannot be.

I too have found the wms and wrs much harder of late, I haven't a clue what most of the words mean and find it hard to get even 90% most of the time, when I do get 100% it is so slow as I have to read the whole sentance to try and get a clue. Quite embarrasing as not that long ago I was coming first with 14 and 15 second rounds. I also thought it was me becoming very 'thick' in my old age! It does put me off from playing as much as I used to, used to be in the top 40 for the month, as of today I am 100. I read what the editors have responded with, but......................

An editor fielded the question to start this thread. I think it would be enlightening to know how many of the regular sub-20-sec players in WR & WM are editors. Let the denials begin!!!!!!!!!!

I regularly write the questions to wr and wm's, and also am an editor, but since I'm not paid Justin said it would be a perk for me to cheat and get regularly fast times....

I'm not an editor. I, too, think they've seemed harder. But the switch to 2.0 also made the game faster. On 1.0 I rarely got a teener. Now I'm unhappy with any round over 17.

Sandra--- speed speed speed !!! I'm happy with 100% and 40 seconds. I hope Fizzy can put a spell on the master computer and get me a Snooker question. I'm overdosing with Books & Authors and all that other Luck of the Draw stuff.

I, too, am an editor for wr/wms. It was so difficult and time consuming to find enough unique words and definitions so I just started making them up. I always worry that a marine biologist will play and blow my cover.

I join with Papermanbill, Mitchy, Alvandy, Seniorrita, Maurlin, and Ficyclist. Over the last month or so, WR/WM words have seem much harder.

I am an editor.

In fact, I'm the PRESIDENT of the editors.

Yep, that's the ticket.

Brenda, I'll go to Borders and see if they have a Word rounds and word matches for Dummies. Maybe it'll straighten me out.

I went to the WR page a little while ago.

I didn't see a single editor's name on either leaderboard.

That's cuz I wasn't playing at the time.

Which Borders you going to Liam,
Canadian or Mexican????

Maybe you should write your own
"Dummies" book, and sell it to all $1 a book for each
of 42,818 players....not

Rowlanda, I am not picking up any Mexican or Canadian borders. Dooh !!
