MY COMPLAINTS-VENT, I GUESS

Why do folks feel it is necesarry to start a thread twice a day on the puzzles. A pat is nice to get but the puzzles are useless to anyone after the day has ended as even Platinums "unlimited" acess does not allow them to play old puzzles and it takes up a large portion of the "Salty Dog". Have started a thread or two on someone's puzzle as it now seems unkind if no one does. It was seldom that way when editors wrote them in their "editor clothes"-for the most part complaints. Also, it seems like the same members are taking turns writing then-again nothig against the puzzles or the authors.

Why is time allowed to elapse before a new player is told the unwritten rule about not posting his quiz anywhere unless he wants it to be ignored or BOMBED?. Rowlanda was first and he got the rest of the message in bits and pieces.

A biggie here: If you had exempted a category from Question of the Day on 1.0 the exemption carried over to 2.0. For folks who have joined after 2.0 there is no exemption available giving former members wher paying or not an advantage on levels over new players. Know this is a fact because as "Linda" and "Heidi" was a member under 1.0. When I quit and rejoined as caramel 1 lost my exemption for "MUSIC and MUSICIANS. You could say this is my own fault for quitting but what about the new people joining today or tomorrow?

Where folks like Aleena (Jim) and Swiper have gone am clueless but I miss them-know there are others not mentioned. Done with the thread thing-post wherever you feel like it do anyway.

Someone needs to be in charge here-support tickets come back saying only Justin can do it but then he needs to do it issues or no issues. Sorry I came back as Platinum now. Hav e pretty much lost interest with folks i know missing and the games dominated by the same people. Having some difficulty finding a quiz that I might know something about as quit in the middle of those filled with dates and numbers and don't do music at all. Think i'm done now-Linda

Feel better?

Now take 10 deep cleansing breaths and have a cup of tea. Or a double scotch.

Hi Linda,

According to Sploofizz, you can submit a support ticket and ask an editor to manually opt you out of the Music & Musicians TQOTD category. S/he wrote: "But since we had some support tickets asking how to do it, we thought we would try to help folks opt-out. We can manually add the opt-out choice for you, but first we had to figure out the correct codes. So by knowing who opted-out of what already, we have identified the code numbers used for each category, except for Potpourri and Vocabulary. I am guessing that no one opted-out of those!"

See this thread for original info on that: http://www.sploofus.com/bbs_detail.sp?post=99132&cID=6

Unless for some reason things have changed since Sploofizz wrote that, I'm assuming the editors can still make that adjustment for you. I hope that helps!

Sorry for the mis-information. Editors THOUGHT we could add a TQOTD exemption, if we knew the codes, so we collected the codes, and then discovered we cannot make that change to your accounts.

Currently we also cannot do anything about a Showdown problem. We can't do anything about WRs and WMs. We can't make any changes to a TQOTD unless we wrote it ourself in the first place (or can locate which editor did write it).

We really wish we could do more. It is just as frustrating for us that Justin has taken a hiatus, but we are doing our best to keep things running smoothly.

what cheese does one pair with Scotch, Ms. Chick?

Linda, many of people that were here when i joined in Jan. 05 are no longer posting nor creating puzzles. i guess real life superseded Sploofus. back then, there were only 3900 members. the intimacy we had seems to have ebbed away as the site grew. i suppose that's the price of progress.

i think an updated 'survivor's guide' would be a big help to newbies and veterans alike. but i'm sure that isn't a priority on Justin's never-ending "to do" list.

i've visited many game sites and Sploofus is by far the most unique. the community is the most welcoming -- sharing triumphs and tragedies. there is always something interesting on the boards. the various games and quizzes are fun and challenging. Even though some things could improve, Sploofus is still a great place to hang out.

Linda, you mentioned Jim and Swiper and I think I have seen posts from both of them in recent days. Can't tell you which thread, though.

ambition of his through the Summer, but said he
would be back round about now....
Don't know anything about Swiper

You could always PM your friends to find out how
and what they are doing....????

Thanks for all the replies as well as the one from Sploofizz. Know many are frustrated here. I believe I have always been supportive of the site from the beginning going Platinum from the first time it was offered and remaining that way during after my brief quits and restarts. All Justin needs to do is give authority to one is his capable editors. I know he has problems and feel terrible about it as I do those of all the other folks here-Linda
