When I saw that picture I was taken back to 6th grade immediately. Such a funny book! I know I read it at least 30 times. If you have a "tween" I highly recommend it. I'm gonna go buy a copy today and read it again!

I also read that book about 30 times as a pre-teen...but a few years ago I tried reading it again and was bored to tears by the first was not at all how I remembered it! That made me really sad.

It's hard to re-visit childhood. Like Leah, I enjoyed this
book as a kid (odd, probably, for a boy) but wouldn't
attempt it today. Harriet was a bit of an outsider and
an observer. I liked that.

I read The Chrysalids in Junior High School and loved it. That book and an amazing english teacher 'turned me on' to english. I saw it at the library a few months ago and thought, I'm going to read it again.. it's true.. you can never 'go home' lol. It was still an affective story but, not near as emotional and, being an adult now, quite juvenile. I'll still hold fond memories but won't read it again.
