My two cents.

I have seen many of these trivia tournaments won by people who take significantly more time than others. I believe there should be a "tournament points" function, which takes your total percentage correct and gives you a certain number of points based on your total time.

Do you believe that someone who finish a tournament with a 97% and 2000 seconds did better than someone with 96% and 500 seconds?

It just seems counterintuitive when much of this website is based on speed of correct answers.

Maybe I'm just bitter because that just happened to me in the game show tourney

I agree, but don't know what we can do about it with Justin gone......

Jeremy, are you trying to say Justin will have a full plate when he returns ??

Strangely enough, it takes me longer for a 'tournament quiz' than a quiz I take just 'cause. I want to have a high score not a fast time, so I take longer to pick an answer. Some people may be doing the same thing, accounting for high scores and long times.

I quit bothering with tournaments for this very reason. I understand being more careful than usual when taking a tournament quiz. However, various players routinely take 10 minutes per tournament quiz - that's one minute per question. Now it's quite possible that they are simply thinking through their answers in a very deliberate fashion. However, it seems that one minute per question is quite sufficient to Google the answer to every question on every quiz.

Perhaps some approach could be taken whereby those who have times that are more than twice the median time of an individual quiz don't get to count that quiz toward the tournament. That way we won't be dealing with video game type speed, but looking up the answers might result in the quiz not counting.

I lost interest after seeing the same dude in the number one spot on all the tournaments. What's the point?

Nick, you should put that into the Bug Suggestions list - as soon as Justin has time to address the Tournaments he will look over those suggestions for how to make them better.

No promises WHEN that will be but he will be sure to see suggestions that are there over suggestions here in the BBS.
