May have been right. Why is it so quiet this morning? Is everyone re-working their 401-k's? Yeah, I'm sacred shirtless too Bbear. We're the same age and things ain't lookin good for the common man.

Has anyone else noticed the co-relationship between
the fall of the "Evil Empire" (Communism) and the
rampant, unbridled, Rise of Corporate and Government
Evil. Now Capitalism is the only game in town. And we
have been carefully taught over time and indoctrination
that Unions are anti-American....

We have a word here in Canada....PARTICIPACTION

It is said "we get the Government we deserve", and those who
simply spout the party line - and do not examine the underlying
issues, and direction in which the country's Leaders are taking
them - are hastening the end of the lifestyle they knew and loved.
Where Greed is Good - the common people simply learn to be
greedier and more amoral.

Now that most of YOUR money is centralized in 401Ks, isn't it much easier
for the Greedy and Powerful to use them as their personal piggy banks????

All we can do is cross our fingers and hope the other shoe has dropped. Our leaders:

W - "Our economy is in great shape"
McCluless "Did I mention I was a POW?"
Odrama "We need change"
The Bun "Do you know I can see Russia from my house?"
Biden "Shoulda picked Hillary"

Term limits is the answer to a lot of these greedy people who exist on Capital Hill.

Term limits are a bad idea. what if we accidentally elect someone decent one day? The best term limit system is the one we already have: vote the bums out!

==Ken (who earlier this year helped to impose a term limit on his Congressional Representative)

I agree. It's in OUR hands. Vote 'em out.

But it seems too often we like OUR person cause they get perks for our state - we just want YOU to vote YOUR bums out.

So we've got to get over that, and vote ALL of them out - term limits are (is?) in our hands.

Way to remind us, Ken.

I didn't understand what happened in California - which ended with
Arnold being voted in as Governor....but wasn't it something to do with
lack of integrity of the then current Governor????
Can that be done MID-TERM if a Politician is found to be incompetent or
Can that be done on the Federal level if "they" don't live up to campaign
promises, or can be shown to be not doing the job as promised????

Must not be. We can name on one hand the politicians who ever kept their campaign promises.

California has a political system unlike most of the other 50 states. Therir system is set up so that every election, the voters are faced with dozens, if not hundreds of referenda on all sorts of matters. Here in Maryland, we get at most a few questions, and they're all of the boring type . But it's the state laws and constitutions that specify how a sitting governor might be recalled. As I remember it, the one that got Davis out and Schwarzennegger in began with a bucketload of petition signatures, then an odd voting process in which you had to vote to retain or remove the sitting governor, and then only if you voted the latter, to pick a successor. This would not be the procedure in most other jurisdictions.
