I know how a few of you are related but not others. Also think it would be interesting to know if those who are "Friends in person" knew each other before joining Sploofus or if friendship developed here. My son got me started on this thing. I believe he must have found it very early in its inception.-I have been here since there were no editors acting in that capacity anyway. I asked Slicko once how he became so good at the games. He said he used to be good at video games. Sean, my son, used to be very good also-pac Man my earliest recollection. Sean is no longer active here-don't know if he ever participated much in Chat but he played the games that were availailable and sometimes reluctantly took my quizzes when I was still writing them. He like any here was rather obsessed with "times" and points. Not sure why he quit-perhaps because his job is in computers-tech support and so he gets away from they for his social life-just curious-Linda

Although I have introduced others to sploofus, including family members, I didn't know anyone here when I joined. And I can't remember how I ended up finding sploofus. I was probably surfing porn at work or something and chickfbref1 came up.

Both of my daughters are here, and a grandson drifts through from time to tme. I have a few real-life friends here too, mostly my trivia players. Big John has a membership too but rarely logs on and doesn't play anything. He mostly uses it to message me from work.

This is an interesting topic! My daughter, Bravegator, joined after I told her about it. For those of you who have already responded, would you be willing to share the screen names of your family members...or is that a closely guarded secret like the identities of the editors and of Spiderman.

i found out about Sploofus in a computer tips newsletter i get from in Jan 05. i invited David aka mightydog (the very significant other in my life) to join soon after that. i also invited my oldest daughter but she says she never has much time on the internet and didn't join. my other 2 kids don't have computers but they aren't really trivia minded anyway.

My daughters are Goddess28 and Draculasbride68. The grandsons have been through a few names as they let their memberships lapse. One of them was Bishopofdreams, one was Navysquirrrel and one was Junebug something. Big John is - ta dahhhh - Bigjohn. My Trivia kids are Heavyboots, Terryhazelnuts, Chloebelle and 2fortheshow and Pland. Not sure all are still active. Maybe forgetting someone.

I think I was searching Trivia Games Online 2 1/2 years ago when I found Sploofus. Didn't know anyone here or hadn't heard of it before then. I have always loved music and classic country music which back when it started was blended in with Elvis, the Beatles and whatever else was popular at the time. It was all on the same radio station. Could be Elvis, Buddy Holly, George Jones, Conway Twitty, the Platters. I came across Vlcrowe's "Vickie's" quizzes, and was hooked from then on. I've been using the Internet about 3 years, and was a little leery of some sites. I have met some friendly, fascinating people since I've been here and can't imagine life without "Sploofus Island". It always feels like coming home!

Wish I had found this site earlier than mid 2007. Was looking to access if possible the NTN trivia network, via home computer rather always have to sit at a bar to play, when the search engine listed sploofus. Was just going to browse around for a bit and leave and chose the name of a character in a childhood book. The variety of games (not just quizzes) and the possibility to write quizzes was intriguing so I took out a gold membership. My dad in his late seventies accessed the site a few times but went back to playing solitaire. Have a few friends who play regularly but are not paying members.

I found Sploofus through a grammar site whose owner loves trivia games (he's themudge here, but he's very busy with teaching college, so I'm beating him). My high-functioning autistic son (Taoman) who grew up with Atari and computers and remembers everything he reads, got hooked watching me play, and will shoot past me soon.

My son was on here a few times and even wrote a quiz but because of the age thing he didn't stay. He was 12 at the time. He did take some quizzes using my name...I joined here in September of 2004, just a couple of months after it original launched. I was just surfing the net when I found the site...One of the first to welcome me here was Dariana and we got to talking and found out we shared some ancestors! There were no editors then either. My how times have changed...I'm just wondering how many of the original members are still here....

I found Sploofus while I was studying for LMT boards a couple of years back and I wanted to take Myology quizzes LOL. I found plenty of them and related topics. While I was on here one day my then 11 year old daughter started playing around and got hopelessly hooked, so I got her a membership. Then I became hooked and signed on. She was a little too young at that time and we're holding off a while before she gets another membership. She still does her QODs and takes quizzes from time to time and is starting to get interested in the Who/Wheres so it may not be too long.

If Sploofus ever gets an IM feature, I know that would pique her curiosity

Don't remember what I was looking for but wandered into the site May last year, just after I'd been nagged into rejoining the whole Web thing after a long absence. Didn't do much for a few months until I took a quiz written by Mitchy (the music queen!) who PM'd me to thank me for taking her quiz. It was wonderful to be made welcome (Thanks Mitchy!!!!!!!!). Since then it has been a good time of chatting with and actually meeting up with (Noodlepops) some of the great people on the Island (It is really coming back?)

Felix, you are vicious and mean. But Lodi likes that in a man.

I'm here from the kimkomando newsletter almost 3 years ago. I stayed because of the WPs. I refuse to let the dogs and cats use my computer, so till they can afford their own, nobody in the family is here. But they already have their screen names ready when they save up their allowances.

I had put together a team for a trivia night competition and was searching the web for quizzes to brush up on my trivia when I came across Sploofus. (My team came in 4th place at that competition due to a 3-way tie for 2nd place that was broken by a straw-draw.)

I introduced my brother, Fainodraino, sister-in-law, Scifidwarf, and mom, Howdydoodie (who only does QoTD). Faino then got his wife, Christofu and tons of his students to join, and Scifidwarf got her son to join, but I don't remember his handle and I don't think he does much since he's just a kiddo.

My granddaughter, Jessied, is a member and mainly just does the daily question, as does my new daughter-in-law of about 8 weeks, Sassychap.

I wish I could remember how I discovered Sploofus. I don't think anyone told me about it; there are several friends who have joined after I have asked them to take my quizzes.

I was introduced to Sploofus by the moderator of a Soap Opera trivia board that I frequented. Her name here is Panda, but I never see her about. Clearly, I am the addict, and not her.

My daughter, Weeblemama, only does her daily question. Sometimes if I beg her, she will take a particular quiz of mine, but that's very rare. About 6 months ago I tried to put her on my friends list, and she's never even answered that automated request. Some friend!

I found the site on my own, and introduced it to many family members, students and friends, several who are still around but mostly just do the TQOTD.

My son is Mordecai, my sister is Jenn13, my niece is around here somewhere, and my newest sister-in-law, and my friend Kittymama.

"Met" lots of folks here I now call my friends. Like many of you, Vlcrowe was the first person who made personal contact with me here, and she set the tone for my friendly Island experience

My daughter, Robin, Rnmorg, kept trying to get me to join and I kept refusing, saying that I had enough to do without getting all tied up with trivia! She got my brother, Butchtriv, and my other daughter, Frstnoel, and my friend, Madwoman to join so I finally gave in. Robin joined in November of 04 and I joined in March of 05. Butchtriv is still active but mostly with his TQOTD. Noel, Frstnoel does WOW a lot, so only looks in once in a while. My job requires far more of my time than it used to so I mainly noodle around and keep up with the news.

I joined in Oct. 06.. found it just by chance while surfing... did the WP and was hooked. Went gold not much after joining and then plat to write WP's (although I'm not even doing that now lol)

My youngest daughter, Michelle99 and my brothers Blitz and Bruthacraig are here although not very active. Don't think Craig keeps up with his account and Blitz/Glen only does TQOTD. I also have friends I've referred who I think also only do TQOTD at this point. Holla to Weez, JV88, Knifenfork.

Michelle devours Disney, Stephanie Myers (author of Twilight novel series) and The Princess Bride quizzes... if you write them, she will come lol

I found out about Sploofus from my personal friend, Maurlin (Linda), who says she told me about it in 2005, but I don't remember that. I also knew Bravegator (Linda's daughter), Carreau (personal friend) and Blazersdad (personal friend) before I knew about Sploofus. I have had three friends join because I told them about the site.

I was looking for trivia sites in '07 and stumbled upon Sploofus. I joined right away and became a paying member about six months later. My son does TQOTD only, he's rslaw. Some of my other sons' friends have come in to say "hi" while I was playing and I know they've joined.

I got my nephew and a couple of friends to join but they don't do much except TQOTD. My nephew took a lot of quizzes when he was in Iraq to pass his down time but now he's back to the states and doesn't have much time. I keep trying to get my husband to join but he isn't really into trivia. He watches Jeopardy with me and that's about it.

I think I found sploofus with through "stumble upon". The womenz of my family soon followed. My mom is Linda0727, her sister is Elaine0602. My sisters are Sarnett75 and Mccrego. Breedco is a family friend that joined after my mom. Lately I've had mixed feelings about the site, but recently renewed, anyway.

Happy you're here, Maddy. We all love Jeremy and are thrilled he has someone sweet, positive, and nice in his life.

My bro' John plays some [jvandy- isn't that special?] and a work colleague at United Way in York [Chad/ cmyers9] plays.
Trying to get both to become paying members. Neither has bothered to play a word puzzle that I've written- that ticks me off.

I was surfing sites about peppermint patties and found a reference to Sploofus, alas-- my first anniversary will be in late October.

Actually- was trying to find if a word "fribbrology" existed. I was given an honorary "fribbrologist" certificate degree by a radio disc jockey many years ago because of my constant trivia playing on the radio. Still don't know if the word is real. Somehow- googled up doing research.

I took the bait.

I don't remember how I found Sploofus but not long after I had joined there was an announcement about an upcoming sojourn to Philadelphia. I went to the hotel and got to meet all the very nice people who came to my home town. It was a fun day of trivia games and laughter and I wish there was another one coming up. I could really use the vacation.

Barb, I don't remember any nice people there?

Googled trivia and found this site I introduced a bunch of people, only my mom (GerryN) survived. She's has NO patience so gets really po'd at the WPs (cause she can't sit still and just look). Love ya mom.

I've met a TON of great people here, and honestly that's what keeps me here (much to the chagrin of my family.."mommy's on the puter again").

I found Sploofus back in 2005 while researching presidential trivia for President's Day. I teach an indoor cycling class, and I have to think of *something* to keep those folks on their bikes and working hard for an entire hour!

Not too long afterwards, I met Lodi and Chick, among others who keep me entertained. I met several Sploofusers in Chicago (see pictures on my profile) Who I still chat with in the WR Shoutbox whenever we're all online. I make an effort to meet others whenever I travel to another part of the country. It does cost me money, but it's so much fun!

I've attempted to addict my family and friends to Sploofus, but I must be taking the wrong approach, because they all look at me like I've just grown an extra head when I try to tell them about it. My fiance "Phred" does his TQOTD when he remembers to take it, and does quizzes from time to time, but he's not on here much.

I've finally decided that I sort of like having my secret Sploofus addiction separate from my family. It's one thing that is just mine.
