WELCOME!

Welcome to the Star Trek Group. I believe I had originally called it just Trekkers, but they changed it to Star Trekkers. That's ok! I hope you enjoy being a part of this group as we discuss all things Trek!!!

I'm more of a Trekkie, which is Trekker-lite, right? Ha Ha. Love the shows and movies, I just don't have every episode name and number and director and guest star memorized like some people I could name......

Hello Boldly Go-Ers,

I have been hooked on Star Trek TOS for decades now. Im not totally Geeked out, but do own all the episodes and movies.

Why dont we have a poll asking for which favorite charactor, or episode, or maybe which Star Trek grouping , and all vote?

Thanks for the welcome!

Here are my favorites: Star Trek TOS , although I do like STTNG and Voyager, TOS RULES for me.

Bill Shatner is my favorite. I recently read his book Up Till Now, which I found very informative. This
actor has been through a lot more than I had thought

Favorite Episodes: City on the Edge of Forever, Balance of Terror, and Arena

Bill is on MySpace and YouTube too,if anyone wants to join, he will allow you to be his
"friend"

So lets here from everyone. If you liked TOS , which charactor was your favorite, and which episodes?

Spock is probably my favorite character from TOS. Fave episodes, "City On the Edge of Forever", "Mirror, Mirror", "I, Mudd" and a few others whose names have escaped me at the moment.

I guess this is a small group. Has everyone taken all the star trek trivia that is here on sploofus?
If not , just type in star trek in the search , and have fun.

Does anyone here collect anything Star Trek? Like props, autographs, action figures, communicator/phasor , or anything?

What are the favorite Star Trek things here?

Has anyone seen the Star Trek Cartoons that have the orginal cast voices?

I've taken most of the Trek trivia. There are a few Trek authors who I don't like, but I do love all of Falonanjel's stuff. He/She has a series of Original Series quizzes, one for every episode. Right now, he's up to #69, so he's almost done.

I haven't seen any of the cartoons, but I'd like to.

Don't worry, we'll grow!!

Thanks for the invite. I'm new to Star Trek. I was raised in a household where the Next Generation was always on and every Christmas we'd decorate the normal tree and then the Star Trek tree with all the ornaments my mother has collected. I'm still watching the Original Series and am getting close to finishing my quiz series. I'm glad so many people have taken them. Thanks for the great comments and feedback!

to Falonanjel , I also have enjoyed your quizes, so thanks from me as well.

I just got a couple of ornaments on ebay to put on my tree this year. I have won The Wrath of Khan, and the Shuttlecraft

I have the Transporter Room, and a few of the mini ships too. I would love the light up Enterprise, but it appears to be
somewhat rare, and ebay prices me out.

My hubby has a 3-D chess set and I have a tri-corder, TOS style.

Have you read The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch? He has a GREAT chapter in it about Star Trek and Captain Kirk. Even if you don't want to read the whole thing, read that chapter. It's great.

What's the book about?

Randy Pausch was asked to give a "last lecture" at the university where he worked, can't remember which one, which is kind of tradition for them, a chance for professors to give advice as if it would be their last chance to do so. Turns out, though, that Randy was dying of cancer, so it really was his last lecture. It's an inspirational book and is very short, but very good. He talks about how he achieved his childhood dreams, one of which was to be Captain Kirk. Obviously, he didn't get to be Kirk, but he got to meet him. You'll have to read it to find out the rest. Highly recommended.

Hello My Fellow Trekers,

Just wondering if anyone watches Big Bang Theory. They have Star Trek references all the time on that show.
Last week was really funny with a coveted Leonard Nimoy autograph.

If you'd like to watch , here is the url

Hope everyone has a great Holiday. I have my shuttlecraft, transporter room, Wrath of Khan ornaments on my tree.

Hello Trek Masters,

Just wanted to tell, that Santa ( my older brother) gave me a Star Trek communicator and phasor for Christmas.
The communicator is really nice, and you can set it to hail you, open , and spok asks if you need help.
The phasor is gun style and has the detachable hand phasor. It has settings for stun, kill, and overload.
Cool toys for this Older Boy. ( and yes, I am married and have 3 children so I dont live in my moms basement )
Anyone else get any toys for Christmas?

PS Sad to post, Majel Barret, nurse chapel, No. 1 and the voice of the computer in NNG ( as well as Troys mom) , and wife to
Gene Roddenberry,
passed away Dec 18th.
That makes Bones, Scotty and Nurse Chapel RIP

Thank you for the welcome.

I fell in love with Spock very early in life - when I was 14, I guess. Always wanted a man who was totally honest! ha I never liked Kirk, because he was so loose with the ladies, which Spock was not.

I lived from Thursday night to Thursday night for the show.

I would have thought I'd died and gone to heaven if during the time of the original episodes of TOS those the character figures and toys had been available. I bought the Leonard Nimoy albums and have them up until a few years ago. I wish I still had them, but they came to an untimely demise. I remember there being a large Enterprise model back then, but I had no talent to know how to put it together. I've never bought any collectibles of the show in my adult life.

Which theme song have you guys liked best?

I think the theme to Voyager is one of the most beautiful, majestic pieces ever composed (and I never really got into Voyager the show). It gives me chillbumps still to hear it. I'll tune in just for the music even if I'm not going to watch the show.

Paper, rock, scissors, lizard, Spock! Priceless!!

Jan, I agree with you on Spock. I loved Data, too, and I guess it was that inability to be anything other than what he was. I also agree with you on the theme song. Voyager isn't my fave series, but I love the music. Be interesting to see what band director Fainodraino says........

Easy...Voyager's theme is the best. It's Jerry Goldsmith, who did the music for Star Trek 1 (which the TNG theme song came from), Trek 5, First Contact, Insurrection, and Nemesis. (also found out recently he did Rambo II--cool).

That theme is just put together so well. It's a basic 3 part form (much like the First Contact theme music), but the melody and orchestration are just brilliant.

DS9's is second in my book, and I would have to say the re-worked version they had for the last 3 or 4 seasons is better than the one they had at first. (the first incarnation was a good melody over a boring harmony; the second one had a better harmony and more movement--much more interesting) It was written by Dennis McCarthy, who did the movie Generations and has written more music for the Trek TV shows than anybody else.

Then I would put the theme song that was used on the mirror universe episodes of Enterprise. So cool, and a much needed break from the regular HORRIBLE theme song of that show.

Then, TNG, TOS, and finally ENT.

Just my two cents.

I was all excited for the premiere of Enterprise, but then as I watched, I was so disappointed by the theme music and opening, I never could watch the show. hahaha - Isn't that pathetic? I was soooooo disappointed. I tried 3 or 4 times and ditched it from my schedule.
