PAPERMANBILL'S FOURS 10-08-08

It has come to my attention that I have left a word out of one of my puzzles. I have submitted a support ticket and hopefully it will be added. Sorry, Bill

I didn't get the one with the omitted word, but I think it should be noted that one of the puzzles is an absolute bear--it took me all but one letter in the alphabet and several wrong guesses due to a no doubt legitimate but wholly unexpected and rare alternative spelling. All the others were tricky but gettable--this one will probably trip up a lot of people.

I believe there is a spelling error, which I will now submit to Support.

Ouch! Who does well on this one is going to depend on who finds the landmine, I think.

Me, I got it. One word cost 8 extra letters and 6 moves for wrong guesses

Could be I just played it stupid. Thanks, Bill, entirely enjoyed it except for one tricky word.

Me, I got it too. Or three. Or something. Perfectly legit, just perfectly impossible!

DARN IT! Got all the way through, got it in 31 moves, (obviously didn't get the zinger) and then had a cable flash-out (get them all the time around here) and GONE. Put in a support ticket but is probably too late.

Oh well.

Good puzzle, Bill. Excellent clues and interesting sets of fours, as usual. Nice mix of subjects. Thanks for a lot of fun!

I had Rozalynn (guessed Rosalind first)
I just thought I was dim.

I guessed both Rosalind and Rosalynn.

Should've burned the safe S, and all would've been well.

Name quizzes are never fair since they don't follow typical letter patterns, but this one was particularly written to trip people up, which I find annoying. It was not only "Rozalynn" -- a name I'll bet few of us has run into before -- but also the less-common "Raquel" instead of "Rachel." You don't include a Z and a Q unless you're snickering evilly.

Of course, I was also frustrated by a glitch that gave me the "Adds Up" WP again (third time), which meant I had to rush through this one in less than 20 minutes (thanks for the super-fast reset!). Just as I submitted the last puzzle and got the "Congratulations" screen, my power went out for five hours. Obviously, this WP was just doomed in the L.A. Mizell household.

Lamizell. please do not accuse me of trying to trip any players up or trying to be tricky. I have done about ten word puzzles since the Platinum players have been allowed to participate. All I get is compliments and "do more please, Bill". I had another name selected (other than Rozalynn) but my editor asked me to change it because of a Sploofus rule (it was the name of a player). FYI names are picked and checked by me from lists of babies names. Being at Level 66, you should be aware that any quiz, ker-blunk or puzzle submitted are checked for accuracy and fairness by our fine editors.

I'm not saying you had a nefarious plot, Liam, or that the puzzle wasn't accurate. But you had to have known "Rozalynn" was going to trip people up because of it irregular spelling in both parts of its compound (i.e., as opposed to "Rosalind" or "Rosalynn"). But, again, I was already rushed and cranky and invariably dislike name puzzles so it especially rubbed me the wrong way.

Pax.

First of all, good puzzle players should invite Z's, Q's, X's, K's and be leary of tricky vowels. Being from Chicago, almost all of my caucasion friends had these tricky letters in their names, including Rozalynn, my mother's cousin...If I wanted to be tricky, I should submit my grammar school yearbook. As far as I'm concerned, case closed. Peace !!
