Where does this author come from? Not many nice things said about Australians!

Get over it. Sirsploofus has done one dissing Americans and one dissing the Brits. Just all in good fun. I think they are great.

I agree with bbear. Seems that some Aussies are a little too sensitive.

Perhaps, he didnt realize, like I didnt with the American one, that it was done in all good fun, --- in hindsight it was cute but when you do it without realizing ....

I can laugh at myself too! My opinion, making fun of anyone is not okay. I didn't realise other quizzes in the same vein had been written. Its just a bit tacky, sorry... that's how feel.

Pennwoman good to see a genuine response.
It was interesting taking part in such an outspoken quiz. My mother did this quiz and she got different questions to me. It saddened me that this word puzzle actually mocked a tradition that is practiced in order to remember those who fought and died for us in World War Two, a war which my great granddad fort in. I find that people could say that "Australians are a bit sensitive" about this quiz odd and strange. How would the americans like it I made a hurtful comment about those who died in the world trade centre? No nation would like to have a tradgedy that happened to their nation mocked. I love being australian.Living in a country that embraces different culture, Art, food, wine, beer, sport, any sport! I love my funny odd aussie accent and I love our ability to laugh at comments such as the one about the wine and cork hats. Unfortunately just lately we decided to stop drinking wine because they started putting screw caps on wine bottles and they are no good for our hats.
Still on the other hand I don't take it lightly someone taking the things I love about being an aussie and turning them into a negative. Yes I do believe in sharing a joke with a few friends that may share a common view. But I see this word puzzle as a way for someone to openly utter and circulate slander, whether it is a small light hearted joke or not. Now that we've insulted Australians "light heartedly" Why stop there. Americans? Irish? English? Malaysians? Disable? Black people? Jewish? Why not expand the cloud of negativity even furthur.
"When a small weed starts to grow between to bricks it does not just remove itself it grows bigger and the distance between the two bricks grows furthur apart while the weed grows." A small light hearted joke can escalate.

What it comes down to is I feel that people should take some time to think about what makes them so proud to be an american or irish or an aussie and realise that noone has a right to take those positives and turn them around as negatives. Anyone who endorses this as a light hearted joke shame on you. I am proud to be a sensitive aussie!

I think I know which "Proud Tradition" you are referring to, even though I have not played the WP yet.
That "Tradition" is now only legal on Anzac Day, when it used to be legal 365 days a year! (If I am correct in my guess about your reference)
Please don't take it all so seriously! The Aussie larrikin attitude should prevail throughout, and have a good laugh..even at ourselves.

Uh ... HULLO! None of these puzzles are making fun of the COUNTRIES. They're making fun of stupid things foreigners THINK about the countries. The humor is not at the expense of Australians, but at the clueless people who only know a few obvious or superficial (probably wrong) things about Australia.

Got it? Sheesh, people.

Just to set the record straight, since I've also answered on the other thread.

/1/ Of course this series is humorous - and there's more to come!
I can assure you that the series has or will include my own nationality too!
If the poster above knew me at all, he/she would realise that I am the very last person on Earth who would mock the ANZACs.
I could take severe offence at that, but I and most realise that Sploofus is not the place for that!

/2/ Lissalou:

Being really concerned at the depth of your reaction, especially re ANZACs, I rechecked the WP.

The ANZACs are not even mentioned, even obliquely!

I would appreciate any clarification, if you wish?

Can't we all just get along and get back to our nice, peaceful discussion of the presidentail election in the U.S.???
