For the misguided soul who actually took the time to ask for the latest installment, here is is:

In 1992 and 1993 the Toronto Blue Jays won the World Series. Both years they won on Saturday. Both years the series went six games. Both years Canadians went to the polls the following Monday, and both years I was on a course.
In 1992, on a Canadian Patrol Frigate qualification in Halifax N.S. Space does not permit me to detail everything that happened on a personal level during that one week so; although it seems long it is actually brief. .
Game one, seeing the game on a big screen TV and realizing that for the first time a Canadian based team had finally made it was all that mattered. It did not matter that they lost. Cub fans will get the same feeling one-day.
Game 2, 1201 AM the mess manger closed the mess and put us out on the street. The game was only in the fourth inning. Military barracks no longer have a common TV room. By the time I found someone who had a TV in their room it was the start of the eighth inning. Jays won thanks to a home run by Ed Sprague top of the ninth. At the end of the game the occupant of the room physically threw out all the Toronto fans as he had his money on the Atlanta Braves.
Game 3, the first World Series game played in Canada. Anne Murray who sang the national anthem before the Blue Jays first game in 1977 sang it again. We watched the first few innings. After the triple play that was overturned we left. I spent the rest of the evening comforting a distraught ex-girlfriend who was going through an emotional time.
The next two games were split and the Jays led 3 games to 2 going into game 6. I watched the deciding game at my best friend for life’s home. Toronto was one strike away from the World Series title when the Braves tied it up. In extra innings Mr. May (when he was a Yankee) became Mr. October for all of Canada with his first and only extra base hit in a World Series. Dave Winfield still claims this was his finest hour.
The Atlanta Braves had the tying run at third base and Mike Timlin a rookie was brought on in relief (if we had only known). He managed to scoop up the Otis Nixon bunt and relay to Joe Carter playing first for the final out. He even managed to sweet-talk Joe into giving him the ball. A priceless ball is ever there was one.

Enjoy game 3 .

... But Mr. Carter was destined for more memorable things anyway.

Great Story!
I remember falling asleep on my husband to be's lap -- waking up just as the Pirates won the World Series in 1979.
