Hi all ... Some time back (probably last winter), we had a rousing conversation about the best furnace to buy to combat allergies. At the time, I thought, "What excellent information this is!".

Now that my furnace is going out, I would really love to replace it with the furnace that was recommended. We live in a house that was built in 1910 and one hundred year old dust is everywhere. You can imagine what my allergies are like in the winter.

Does anyone remember the furnace?

Thanks for your help!

Pretty much any indoor air handler can be fitted with high efficiency filtration at the time of installation, as well as component humidification attachments.

Thanks, Oogie. Someone was singing the praises of a particular furnace, but I guess that no one remembers. Oh well. I couldn't find the link either.

I was going to make my landlord pony up the cash for a really kick ass heating system.

Koota, you may be thinking of this 2006 thread with a post from Phlenin praising her air filtration system from Healthmor (admittedly not a furnace):

She also refers to her longer post in this thread about vacuums:

I haven't been able to find any posts or threads about furnaces and allergies.

Good luck-
