SOME NOTES ON WP VOTING

I just wanted to thank everyone for taking time to vote. The tests were very helpful in making us feel more comfortable about the whole contest.

There are a few things I'd like to ask you to do when sending in a vote so we make sure the vote counts towards the right puzzle and to help us make sure we counted every vote.

1. Make sure to change the Subject line of the voting message to include the title, or at least some part of the title. There were some votes for the first puzzle that came in after votes for the second puzzle, so this can get tricky especially when the vote inside the PM is for a different puzzle than the puzzle mentioned in the Subject line.

2. Please only send votes to the Wordpuzzle account. I was in error asking to send in requests for replies, it gums up being able to scroll through messages if you delete a message for some reason.

If you would like Wordpuzzle to send a message, please just post a note here and we will send you a message from Wordpuzzle.

3. And lastly, please put the number score at the top of the message. We have a ton of messages to go through, so it just makes it easier.

Thanks!

Would it help if we put in next to the title in the Subject line?

I know you said it was okay to take your own but should you tank it, like normal?

Once again, please make sure what you type in the subject line of your PM to Wordpuzzle is the correct title of the WP you wish to vote for.

Also, please make sure you're voting accurately, according to the published rating scale:
4 - Loved it
3 - Liked it
2 - It was so-so
1 - Not my cup of tea

Here is the link again to Wordpuzzle: http://www.sploofus.com/profile.sp?pu=wordpuzzle

Please speak to your WP editor regarding taking your own word puzzle.

Thank you for your help in making this contest fun, exciting and successful!

More than sure it is just me but this voting thing is way too complicated. No offense to any puzzle author and I do take them but until rating them becomes as simple as it is for rating quizzes, I will have to "pass". I do agree , however, that a puzzle rating system is a good thing-Linda

We agree with you, Linda. However, this is the best we can do. This contest was created by the editors and is being administered by the same. We do not have the capacity to program a link that appears at the end. That is something we would all like.

I've voted for all the contest puzzles so far.

Seems to be easy to do and it is fun to rate the puzzles.

Notwithstanding the reply to my support ticket, I still cannot send a PM to Wordpuzzle in order to vote.. I'll try the method you suggested editor but, just to let you know, I did try to vote from the profile page.

Just a couple of reminders:

1. Please be sure the subject line of your PM to Wordpuzzle contains the correct title of the puzzle you wish to vote for.

2. In order to help us gather and process votes smoothly and accurately, please vote for each puzzle separately -- one PM per puzzle.

Thank you for your help.

Just thot I'd bump this to top with a quick link to pm'ing

send info to:

Put word puzzle name in subject

Use rating scale
Q. How do I rate the contest word puzzles?

A. The scale for voting is as follows:

4 - Loved it
3 - Liked it
2 - It was so-so
1 - Not my cup of tea

Please be sure you understand the scale so that you do not inadvertently give a WP a rating of 1 that you intended to give a 4. Ideally, it is recommended that you include your text rating along with the number rating. For example, if you want to rate a WP as a 4, type: 4 - Loved it.

Is there a list of "past word puzzles" - I barely had time to do them and didn't get a chance to make notes and wanted to catch up this morning...can one of the editors post it? I have two specifically but can't remember the titles...just hoping.

I thought one of the points of the contest was going to be that the writers can stay anonymous...am I wrong - or am I reading this all wrong...sorry - confused...rare occasion - but happens

I know some people that I've had discussions with because some of the past things feel like being named might be a detriment for several reasons.

I hope that if this turns into a regular thing, that perhaps Justin can set up some sort of poll type thing / voting system where each puzzle is rated on an individual basis - it can be seen on a daily basis and that the actually "vote" number can be divided by the number voting for the puzzle --

I know this is a test and certainly nothing against the editors - but if multiple editors are "working" wordpuzzle as I think they were based on the accidental test taking and posting (I think there was a posting) votes might accidentally get deleted too -- I think it's a great idea - glad to see the participation as word puzzles were my main reason for upgrading - but investing in a "vote script" would be a good thing...archives of past winners (puzzle names only of course) and perhaps the opportunity like Justin had talked about quite a while ago of being able to take past word puzzles - that could be the "dividing line" - the top 10 or each contest or something.

Just some thoughts and ideas....perhaps

We haven't been deleting PMs from the Wordpuzzle account unless they were irrelevant to the vote counts. Have faith.
