Love the chasing the frozen turkey, body painting, LSD story.

Thanksgiving is special to me. 8 years ago hubby met my family for the first time, it was our first "real" day with family, first time he spoke up in a crowd, first time anyone (including me) got to hear him play the piano.

There was one more, very special, first that day, but I'll just keep it under my hat.....

I've had some bad Thanksgivings, but 1996 has to stand out. We were in San Francisco for the bridge tournament, and Wednesday night we went to a restaurant. JJ, Donia and Mark had the lobster. I had the swordfish. At 1:30 AM, exactly one of the four of us started to feel sick. JJ and I canceled our plans to spend Thanksgiving dinner with Mark's friends in Oakland. Heck, I wasn't even eating anything Thursday. Meanwhile, Mark and I had had a good game a few days before, so he went to the booth where we could claim our free section top badges. He had one made for me, name listed as "Ken Kaufman", and he gave me his, upon which for some reason was inscribed "Pukey Kaufman".

Most our Thanksgivings were pretty good. The only real bad story I have was being trapped, next to my favorite Aunt Nima's (yes, Nima) dreadful sister-in-law -- she was very deaf, very elderly, who upon discovering I was a nurse, went into a graphic description of her last pelvic exam. YIKES!

A true Story: In 1987 it was cold and raining on Thanksgiving Day. A chance meeting of two women at a convenience store led a conversion about their cohabitation status. Both had met a cool guy who traveled and was rarely home. Both had let the handsome devil move in. Both were very happy and planning a big holiday season. Both threw my clothes out in the rain. One ran over them in her car. Go figure.

Don't know how many of you are going to remember this, but my FAVE Thanksgiving TV program was WKRP in Cincinnati.

Less Nessman was the reporter, and for Thanksgiving he thought he would be generous and release live turkeys from the helicopter into a mall parking lot. As they fell helplessly to the ground, and people were running in horror he shouted into the microphone "As God as my witness, I thought turkeys could fly".

Use that line every Thanksgiving, thanks Less.

I was born on Thanksgiving and number 64 comes again on November 27th. Kelly, I was surprised Less never got a show of his own and Bailey was twice the Babe that Loni Anderson ever was.
