POETIC BEGINNINGS WP

All it takes is remembering one poem incorrectly in two places to move you from a perfect 5 move game to a far less than perfect 11 move one. Drat!

I am lucky if I can finish a puzzle in fewer than 50. Five letters, indeed! I would drop over in a dead faint if I ever got a puzzle in 5.

When I was in junior high school, back in the dark ages, we had to memorize a specific poem each month. They were all classics, and some of them were damn hard and really long. Some of them were totally incomprehensible to a 12-year old. Ask me what I did yesterday, and I won't have a clue. But those poems are still in my brain!

Well, I pondered weak and weary, as usual.

On my first attempt, pathetically, with no googling, I pondered MEEK and weary (and obviously bleary).

I'm inexcusable.

Thanks for the kind remarks, hope there was some fun there for all, and maybe I'll try another one like it, in a while.

It is absolutely amazing what we are able to pull out of our heads. I haven't read or heard those poems since high school (40 years ago) but the hints (which were perfect) brought those poems right to the top of my head. Amazing.
