VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION

Why did God make pomegranites so hard to access????

By the time you've got all the fruit, you've lost interest
in eating it....AND it takes 4 times a long to get the
fruit, as it does to eat it

I was in maybe third or fourth grade when our teacher brought a pomegranate to school and scooped out the "goodies" for each of us to taste. Back in those days our small-town grocery store didn't get in much of anything except oranges, apples and bananas. I think the teacher had been to a larger town and brought it back.

My mouth is watering now just thinking about the sweet-tart fruit!

I think they were meant to be juiced to make wine. Try some its delicious.

Too bad there aren't films of Julia Child cutting them. I think she threatened to use a fire axe once. Seriously, I think I saw her demonstrating how to cut those things up quite easily. My wife just did two the other day, looks like a bunch of red seeds.

.......AND you can have all sorts of mischievous fun popping the seeds at innocent passers-by.
PS: loquat seeds are VERY good for that pastime, too!

Smaug - where on earth did you find that video? I stopped even trying to eat them because the local Whole Foods (i.e. Whole Paycheck) sells the juice, but's it not nearly as much fun.

I never knew anyone had trouble opening a Pomegranate. My wife eats them often, since they are quite popular in her home of China. Now slicing a mango to get maximum mangoage is a whole different proposition.

The first time I got a pomegranate, I didn't know the fruit was only the red part. I took a big bite like it was an apple. Blech- tasted like styrofoam with red berries in it!

Pomegranates go great with peppermint patties [especially if you you have a bleach taste in your mouth].

But I wouldn't actually know that for sure.
