RE: OFFENSIVE AVATAR

Those learned members who did not have the decency to contact me directly will be glad to know that my offensive personalized icon has been removed.

Ok, I'm dying to know, as I don't recall ever seeing an offensive avatar, what it was? One way or another, it sucks...you can't please all the people all the time though, unfortunately.

Man, that brings back some Beavis & Butthead memories. How could a show that is so dumb be so funny?

I like this icon, Ed. Whenever I see your name I think of Bluegrass music and banjos. And Word Rounds, of course. It's a nice reflection of you.

Thank you.

It is my Sullivan Greenbriar made in Louisville by Bill Sullivan. I really like the sound of it.

What was the other, offending avatar? An (gasp) accordian? (ducks away)

Ed...I have an old Gibson (I think) banjo that belonged to my uncle....He bought it back in the 50's......It's still in pretty good shape and still sounds good....

You should take that into a music store and have it evaluated. Some of those older Gibson are worth a SERIOUS chunk of change.

Are you serious, Ed?
If you are, why would someone find that offensive?

Vicrowe...You should get it appraised. In all likelyhood a banjo from the fifties is not worth enough money to retire on. It depends on the model and if it is 4 or 5 string.

If you had an original 1934 Gibson flat top 5 string you would be talking maybe $100,000 or more.

With envy,

Ed

I love banjos, but I never played one. My dad played and he loved it! He passed his rhythm guitar skills down to me, to some degree, but I regret that I never learned the banjo. I suppose it's never too late to try, though...

Regarding the avatars...As someone who did see both the original and its immediate follow-up: I (like others) am VERY curious as to the motivation behind those. I also fully agree with the first posting in this thread: If you have a problem with someone, the first step is to contact them directly.

LOL

There was no motivation behind anything. I have no scheme or hidden agenda either personal or public.

I could possibly say the same thing about Snoopy and the Red Baron.

Are you promoting war or hatred of Germans or exploitation of animals?

See how silly it sounds?

this is truly amazing. 23 replies and the subject of the squashed avatar has been squashed.
What was it, fer cryin out loud? What is happening to this place? I feel like I'm at a church picnic and all the cool people are off behind the barn smoking a joint and having fun while we talk about how moist the ham turned out. Sheesh.

I'm offended by the banjo pic. It reminds me of "Deliverance". "You ain't gonna make it down this river, boy."
Just kidding Ed, I love bluegrass and envy those that can play. It's something I always wanted to learn, but these ham hands can't even learn basic guitar picking, much less 5 finger banjo picking.

Har Har

I thought of the same thing when I was posting it. Squealing like a pig and making fun of slow people. Sittin' on the porch, spitting and watching cars go by .

Or saying... By Gum or By Crackey

Jedley, your reply reminded me of back in the 70's going to the Sunday School picnic and games on a Sunday afternoon when I lived out west.

Myself and a female friend of the family and my two kids were driving along in my shaggin' wagon van (remember those). Any, my two kids kept bringing us beer from the little bar fridge in back. By the time we got to the Sunday School picnic we were feeling pretty good.

This was a Regular Baptist Church too (no booze).

Which reminds me.....why don't Baptists have sex standing up????

It might lead to dancing.

yuk yuk

Ed
