PMB FINAL FOURS

As usual challenging; but I had one clue that seemed of a completely different genus to the others. Did anyone else get fooled by this? Or was I just slow on the uptake?

Clever. It took, of course, one puzzle to catch the concept. Then is was just good puzzling.

I hope this isn't really the "final" of the four series. In addition to enjoying the puzzle clues and phrases, lately I've tried to work out which number PMB uses to name the series. I had no idea what language the last one was. Who knew there were so many "fours"?

Please don't stop the series. I look forward to your Fours Puzzles. And besides, I beat Slicko!

Liked it. There was one that had absolutely no connection to the rest, i.e. wasn't a four. Mistake, Bill??? Or an "on purpose" that was very clever?

I think the previous puzzle was a Polish word but not sure

Fun puzzle, Bill! Another good one to add to your repertoire -- don't stop these, please. Good job!

Really enjoyed the "Fours" Wordpuzzles! Please don't let it be the "final" one! Thanks!

1) I think the puzzles title indicated it's only his Final "Fours" of 2008.

2) The font on the forums page is so small (art least in 1280 resolution) that I first read this subject line as "Papermanbill's Final Hours", making me agonize over whether he had had an accident involving a big pile of red billiard balls ...

PMB: I usually score well in your "Fours"- so keep 'em coming.

Observation: If you write a puzzle next year about honest Illinois politicians, you will have to do heavy research on finding four to cover the clue!

Just kididng?

Killed myself with hurried mistakes - shouldn't let the fun ones sit too late but it couldn't be helped. Good job, Bill!

It is 8 a.m.here, so it is over. That was your final of "Fours" puzzles for 2008, I hope you all passed. I thought the Jesse Owens thing would be my curveball. If you noticed my time (over 1,100 seconds), I had a problem doing this and I had all the answers written down (I also had the Jesse thing). I will submit more of these puzzles, but I want to do a little research so my ideas will be fresh for the New Year. If any of you hava any ideas, send me a PM. Garrybl gave me a few go ideas a few months back, thank you. If you have a particular language that you may want me to number my puzzles with LMK. Finally, to Alvandy regarding our illustrious governor Blagojevich. Al, this is better than going to the Super Bowl when this happens, everyone has their own ideas or knows someone who knows someone. The good thing about this guy is that the governor (George Ryan) who is in jail now probably won't get pardoned by Bush before Bush gets out. Chicago and Illinois politics have been corrupt since right after the Civil War. Don't think that Senator Barry isn't sweating bullets along with my Congreesman Jesse Jackson. The sad thing about living here is that you trust the crooks more than the honest guys.
