How can we be sure that the link given is not one set up by the hackers, since it's not one of Microsoft's regularly scheduled updates?

I Googled the problem and asked for the Internet Explorer 7 Security Microsoft download. It wasn't a direct link, but a few screens later I came to after clicking on the Google answer site. It looks like a legitimate Microsoft website. I just copied and pasted the link which I got from the address bar at the top while being on the download screen. I downloaded it, but I'm not an expert so couldn't give any guarantees. I just clicked it a few minutes ago and it was available then.

You can also go to the tools tab, then choose Windows Update -- that takes you right to the correct site and is saftest way to get updates.... at least that what my brother the nerd says -- and when I did it, I was able to download pics again.
