I have to say that as much as I like mondegreens themselves, I find these mondegreen puzzles very hard to like. There are so many legitimate but incorrect solutions for the lines being distorted that coming up with five of them without making any wrong guesses requires an almost incomprehensible amount of luck. If I had that kind of luck, believe me, I'd go out and buy lots of lottery tickets! Others seem to have no problems guessing exactly which of a dozen possible misreadings of a song lyric is the one desired, but those of us who are not clairvoyant aren't so lucky.

Whew! I'm glad I got that off my chest! Sorry about the rant, but I needed to get it out. You may return to your regularly scheduled puzzling.

I agree with Tallactor. But what I really
want to point out is that I "hear" your rant
in the voice of Huckleberry Hound.

I found it fun!! Remember when I was a kid, always thought it was "later on, we'll perspire, as we dream by the fire" Still think it works!

oh, Foogs, do you hear my rants in the voice of a moose?

For the most part I don't care for these either for some of the reasons that Tallactor mentioned, but today's was an exception. We had our office Christmas party this afternoon and several folks quoted the songs exactly as they appeared in the puzzle - maybe I just got lucky but 4 of my 5 were ones that I have heard very often. So at least for today I have to give this one a

We enjoyed them but there was one where one word could have been six or seven words and it was impossible to try to figure it out; therefore we just put up letters. general grand fun.

I made several mistakes in what the words were and part of it was carelessness on my part in not watching the letters already chosen. I thought the puzzles were pretty cute even though I did poorly.

I made a ton of typos.

I fall a little into Tallactor's camp. Decisions...decisions, which one of 3 or 4 possible choices could it be...

Put me in the carping camp. Got to one word of three letters ?ay..... could have been absolutely anything legal...and it turned out it was a word that made no sense in context and sounded nothing like the right word.
Wasted points and guesses before getting it.
And I'll have some cheese witrh that wine please.

Chipmunks roasting?
Deck the halls with Buddy Holly?
Good King Wences Car?

Mondegreens are tough- but a lot of fun.

Just call me Rocky the Flying Squirrel, since like Sandracam (moose avatar), I enjoyed this WP a lot. It didn't matter to me that there might be several possible distortions of the lyrics, I just thought it was a lot of fun. I think this was my favorite:

santa suit - get dressed ye married gentlemen let nothing through this way

Thanks for a fun puzzle!

It has been pointed out to me that these could have all been Googled and found at the same site. If only I had known!

There are so many ways to mondegreen those things, unless these came right off a googlable website, I can only conclude that there was something very fishy about all those scores below twenty.

Terror soma- new waste, O' Monty gringos stink, son. Plastic camera ate a fugu labeled wrap side. Ike in one leak on clue debt dares wasabi buried fashionable toes. Cursed be loot, Wendy.

Tear a person anyway; sumo on the green though stings on less. Tease game write-off ague gullable Schwepps exciting cans. Juan Lee construed tattered blossom finger eephus Shi'a battled hose cores. Bellow when teed!

Well I was at 10 around 4:00 - and dropped to 15 - I happen to be a mondegreen fan - even did a quiz on them and did the puzzle without googling - and am pleased -
