Argh! Somehow in the past 2 weeks, one of the Windows updates included a new grabber thingy. It seems every time i move my mouse, it "grabs" an arbitrary spot without warning and shows what looks like a zipper. If it's mid cursor move, it grabs and scrolls totally on its own - against my will. It's driving me nuts as I try to do Word Matches or anything timed.

How do I get rid of it? Please help!!!!

I did some Windows updates a few days ago and the only thing I noticed was a little red circle sometimes appears in my address line before the http.. I haven't noticed your problem (yet) but I would like to know what that little bulls-eye thing means. The color red does not usually mean "good".

This is a laptop.

This is VISTA.

While ago, i was on my #1 of tonight's WP, and when I went to backspace while trying to figure out the answer, it totally took me out of WP so had to be reset.

I never had trouble on Sploofus running Windows 98.

No idea what the problem is. It almost sounds virusish. I will not what my son, who has a degree in computers, said, "Avoid Vista as long as you can. I is full of bugs and problems."

Doesn't that apply to all that is Microsoft?

Is there any truth to the idea that it's harder to get a virus or trojan or whatever if you're on DSL?

DSL, modem, cable, etc. None of them are better or worse at protecting from viruses. It is all about the firewall and protection you choose to protect your system. Some ISPs provide pretty good protection. It is about shopping the best value.

Microsoft is the main target. Why go to the trouble of creating a virus for the few(Mac), when you can do it for the many (PC)?

Vista is a standout among Microsoft systems for being a bug farm, like that Millennium Edition. The best Microsoft system is still NT, which is the baby of a guy named Dave Cutler, who grew up in Dewitt, MI, about 30 minutes from here.
