Just heard on the news that Oprah is buying a 9 bedroom home in D.C. so she can be "Close to Obama and talk to him about important issues". I don't know about you folks but I'm wondering just who the hell this chubby little honey thinks she is and what makes her qualified to discuss "important" issues with the Commander in Chief, and the issues? Important to who? Oprah? This is arrogance to the extreme in my book. And what about the "Obama Momma"? Wonder what she thinks. Stay tuned.

Believe the word you are searching for, Don, might be "Hubris"-that is such a classy word that thanks to Tsk have added to my vocabulary. Aptly describes so many folks-Linda

I found a blurb in the NY Post. (I was kind of hoping this was a joke.)

I think he owes her a lot. Her early endorsement may have been the one hurdle Senator Clinton couldn't overcome.

Oprah Winfrey is a celebrity. She is not a politican. She shouldn't begin to mix up the two and think she has more going on than she does. All Obama owes her is a heartfelt thank you.

Hubris is an excellent description of her belief that she might be necessary in Washington, D.C. She'll soon find out she is a pimple on the complexion of what's going on in D.C.

I think he should offer her an ambassadorship. But financially, i can't imagine her giving up her show for it. Then again, with the problems with her book reviews, maybe it would be a good time to retire from the show and be an ambassador of some kind to somewhere - maybe where she opened the girls school?

I've been wondering for years why people have made such a fuss about ANY talk show host. It's probably gone to her head.

My first reaction: , I don't why this woman thinks she is some kind of spiritual leader but she has got to go find a hobby.....

I think her spiritual leanings are fine for her or those who are interested but imposing them on the rest of the world.....

I think it sounds ridiculous. Are you sure it's true? Obama seems pretty serious and this doesn't fit IMO.

Seems much ado about nothing much. If Oprah wants a house in DC she can certainly afford it, and good for her and so what? I'll trust Obama to make the best use of any service she may offer the nation; plenty of little girls and boys in this country would like a good school to go to.

I watched her show for many years and her issues always seemed pretty much in line with most people's - with mine, anyway - education, literacy, equality, justice. She's a very intelligent and worldly person who's made a brilliant success of everything she's done; so it's possible she may have some useful ideas. Wouldn't be the first time a president brought his influential friends along to Washington, at least we know who this one is.
