JUSTIN - DO YOU HAVE A FEW MINUTES?

Sploof Almighty -

I have a few opinions and suggests for you. Hopefully, one of them will make sense, and help to make Sploofus a better place.

I think the monthly Quiz Authors list should be soley based on a monthly basis. I say this because I'm dumbfounded by the fact that I haven't posted a quiz in March, yet I'm listed 7th on the list for this month. I don't think that's fair to the people who have submitted quizzes in the past week, but are still behind me on the leader board. It seems as though separate categories would give a clearer picture of what's hot and what's not, thereby making the competition more fair.

Also, I think the EA should be it's own reward. We get enough extra attention drawn to us by having the blue ribbon next to our quiz titles. Giving them a different rating system than other quizzes only serves to unfairly tilt the playing field.

On that subject ... how about a People's Choice List for each category, instead of the "10 Most Popular Trivia Quizzes" list, which covers all of the subjects. There could be a link under each category that takes the user to a list of the top quizzes ... which is based soley on the amount of points that the quiz has earned for the author.

When I look down the list of quizzes that I authored, my "Are You Good In Bed" quiz stands out like a sore thumb ... just because of the numbers next to it. At present, it's had over 1,150 contestants and has earned almost 87,000 points ... in only 13 days. That's around 88 contestants and 6600 points per day. More importantly, it's more per day than a lot of my other quizzes have recieved in the entire time they've been listed.

It's because of the "10 Most Popular Trivia Quizzes" list being glued to the top of the quiz index page. My quiz has been one of the first things people see for the better part of the past 2 weeks. Clearly, the existence of that list tilts the playing field beyond fairness. The reason that quiz is still on the top 10 list has more to do with the fact that it's on the list, than it does the quality of the quiz itself. Any quiz that's on the list is going to get more contestants than it would if it were soley listed under it's respective category.

As nice as it is to have bragging rights, I feel that the "Are You Good In Bed?" quiz, and it's subsequent placement on the index page, have produced an unfair amount of points for me ... and I like winning on a level field.

This site rocks. It's addicting, well organized, and extremely friendly. (Even though I don't like anyone who finshed above me on the quiz author ratings for February). You've done a great job, and I hope you don't take any of this as a putdown. Nothing is perfect ... therefore, in everything, there is room for improvement.

I'd just like to see the playing field leveled and everyone jumping up and down on the same sized pogo stick. I don't want to be the beneficiary or the victim of the system, and I'm guessing that I'm not alone in that sentiment.

To get to the end of this long story, I don't have the solutions ... merely suggestions ... and an offer to help, if I can.

I apologize for the length of this. Thank you for reading it, and any consideration that you may give it.

Sploofcerely,

Mel

Note to anyone else who reads this ... please feel free to give your opinons. My input and ideas are no more important than yours. If we all chip in we can make this site more fun than a barrel of dirty jokes.

p.s. Justin ... If you can see your way to making the changes that I've suggested, I'll award you 126,744 Mellonhead points, which can be applied toward any purchase of a "MELLONHEAD : ROOKIE OF THE YEAR 2006" tee-shirt, leather-like "MELLONHEAD FOR SPLOOFIDENT" racing jacket, or anything from "THE SPLOOFOLOGICAL LIAR" lingerie collection.

Okay, first and foremost, I *WANT* a "Mellonhead for Sploofident" racing jacket! LOL!

Excellent posting! I do think that prolific and/or popular quiz authors whose quizzes are taken month after month deserve their place on the leaderboards (I'm not one of them!). But I sure see the value in highlighting what's popular amongst the NEW quizzes for a month.

I love your attitude: win or lose, a level playing field is what's key.

Please explain the quote you made in your posting about "not liking anyone who finished above you in the February quiz authoring". I was the one ahead of you according to the archives.....Do you have something agaisnt those of us who were ahead of you? I think you need to verify this remark.....

Yes Vicky. I've had dreams and visions of asploofinating each and every one of you. I actually lost sleep, just pondering the ways to get rid of my competition.

I'm after Justin's title. I want to be "Sploof Almighty". The fastest route there is to "off" the lot of you.

LOL, Mellonhead, but somehow...I don't really think that's gonna make Vickie feel any better.

I think we have a fight in the chat room - I'll make popcorn if somebody will bring the soda.

There's no fight. Vickie could kick my tail.

Just wondering though ... does Justin ever read these?

How could I forget you Vickie? You keep burying me in the top author list. I've written some of my best quizzes just to try to gain ground on you, but you gained 6,000 points on me in the last 12 hours.

If look, a bunch of those points probably came from me. (I seem to like your quizzes).

Anyway ...

Am I going to have to assemle a malitia of minutemen to go forth and seek out Justin? My sources have informed me that he's being held captive at trivialpursuit.com, and that they're denying him food and water.

He does seem to be missing in action.

Maybe he went on vacation with our money?

You can hardly blame him if he is crashing after the crash. Bet the guy didn't sleep for days. I'll bet we'll hear from him again on Monday - probably needs to eat sooner or later.

I read somewhere that Justin was going to be gone for the whole month of March. I don't know where he was going, but I guess he has earned a vacation!
