I loved it, this was my best score for WPs, I usually average 70 moves.... I do them for the fun, since clearly I am mediocre at best, but I thought it was clever!

I thought there were too many puzzles with multiple answers that fit the criteria and which forced me to just guess which of the possible answers was the desired one. So it became more of a game of luck than of skill, which the WordPuzzles should be.

I loved it too....I really like
the puzzles where you have
instant letters given before
you even start....

I loved it too! I didn't do well, but it was fun to tax my brain.

And I loved that it's not googleable.

I have to agree with Tallactor - got a "Sorry" on three different puzzles because of answers that fit perfectly, but happened to be wrong.

With really short clues and some ambiguity as to what is right or wrong I found myself with the old equation:

Do I guess a letter and risk losing 100 or guess an answer and risk losing three guesses?
I DID enjoy the puzzle but that made it a little hairier than I would like.
And a spelling variant finally got me!

My fault but still....

Loved it, thanks! I'll have more to say after the puzzle is over. Excellent clues, fun phrases. I'd like to do the other five now, please.

I did this one. Failed big time. Now I am going to give them up.

I did get one Sorry, but it just means that you have to weigh whether you want to use more letters to be sure - or go for it.

I thought the puzzle was a lot of fun - and the clues were really helpful.

Very timely puzzle today if you're into Roman numerals.

The author helped us jump start the puzzle. Thank you!

Wow. Finally "got it" but still didn't "get it". Good job on a very tough one.

I think I'll take two aspirin.

I thought I did pretty good on it until I saw where I fit in on the leaderboard! It was really a delightful puzzle and fun to do. Even if my score did stink.

Keith, Honesty is the best policy, sorry. If I'm not mistaken, you voiced displeasure towards my masterpieces before. Check with Senator Barry if it was taken out of context.

Now that the puzzle is over, I can post my favorite clue/phrase:

"Instant oyster stew?" - mollusk mix

I liked this one best because we always seem to be talking about mollusks here on the Island since they come up a lot in WordRounds and WordMatches. I also thought it was cool that the letters MMIX occurred in that order to give us 2009 in Roman numerals! Neato keen!

Tres:

Not every puzzle fit your theory. Mycologist's task
was "Mildew Exam."

I really have to stop making stupid mistakes or I'm
going to end up a grumpy Gus much like Keith in
2009.

I Google, therefore I am.

Geri- Thanks so much for your post about MMIX being 2009.. I liked the quiz, but the meaning of the letters just didn't click until just now.

Linda, I got the 2009 meaning. I thought the letters had to go in that order.
