HAVE YOU EVER BEEN SURPRISED BY A QUIZ YOU WROTE?

I wrote a quiz on the movie Goldfinger and it attracted only 12 takers. Must be other people don't remember the movie as a classic the way I do.
Then my quiz on The Eagles musical group had far more takers than I imagined.

I am constantly surprised by which of my quizzes gets high hits, and which tank. For example, both my Paleozoic and Mesozoic quizzes got Editor's Awards (thank you soooo much, Editors!) and one has had 14 hits and the other 15. I know there must be more science types out there than that!

The Avengers - that was a great TV series. I think that quiz got maybe 12 hits. Christmas Eve on Sesame Street (what could be more classic - especially to a Big Bird) got 6 hits.

And then there is Celebrity Scientologists doing very well, thank you. I would personally never take a quiz on Celebrity Scientologists, but I decided I would see what it took to bring in lots of takers. I guess I was right!

Its very much a matter of which category the quiz is sitting in, and how fast it flees from view. Now, if you just write one on religion with a sexy title, you will probably have it made!

I put a lot of work into The life of Elizabeth Fry', which to be fair I didn't expect to hit the most popular section but was suprised only 10 people bothered. it has a AR of aroound 7.
While loading up 'The real St Patrick' a couple of days ago I decided to write a second 'Simply The Wets' about my favourite band Wet Wet Wet. No effort involved - typed it straight in using junk out of my head and just had to check one date on my database ( I was right anyway lol) and it has 8+ rating and over 10 takes in the first few hours.
As much as I hate to bad-mouth my own quiz but the Simply The Wets 2 quiz is not any kind of masterpiece and certainly does not deserve a rating as high as it has. I suppose the good thing is that the extra points will act as a bit of insulation if or when I get another 'bomber' hit me lol

Sometimes it surprises me which of my quizzes get the most hits and others do not. Since most of my quizzes pertain to music I get most of my hits on these quizzes.....and my famous quizzes have gotten alot of hits also....The fours I wrote song and movies with the same name have all gotten over 100 hits. One has 700 hits right now! The ones I spend more time on and research for two or three days average anywhere from 20-30 hits....I think the least I've had on any one quiz was 12....

I do sympathize with Alice. Actually I have really enjoyed those quizzes, thank you. I had written a quiz about the royalty in the modern world, and have learned the most while creating it compared to my other quizzes. However, it has the lowest number of hits so far. I do think that most people do not take quizzes on scientific or historical topics. Any ideas on how to correct this imbalance...

Just wondering -- Has anyone detected a relationship, other things being equal, between when a Quiz is launched (day of week, time of day, etc) and the number of takers. I am uncertain of the answer to this question. Any thoughts?

The only correlation I've seen is if a lot of quizzes are launched at once then my movie or TV quizzes get bumped off the front page too fast...we need to start a "search" campaign to get more people to search for older quizzes!
