PLATINUM QUESTION...

Hi everyone!

My 6 month gold membership expired, so I decided that I get so much joy and fun out of the site, I would upgrade to platinum.

I'm looking for the updated platinum stats, and can't seem to find them. At this juncture, I don't see a major difference between a gold and a platinum membership.

Could someone steer me in the right direction here?

Thanks,
Lee

Big differences are the right to write WPs and get sneered at by the membership.
More guesses on WR/WM and WTHAI

Last November the bonus wager deal was also a big plus!

Plat gets unlimited (1000) WR/WM, 10 more WTH guesses, bigger friends list and photo gallery, uploadable personal avatars, the right to write WPs, and supposedly preferential treatment from support.

Can't think of anything else offhand.

What bonus wager deal?

I believed, for some strange reason, that one would get a better statistics page. Maybe I misread something/

I think the "bonus wager deal" that Barry is referring to, was the Platinum Word Puzzle Authoring contest, where we got a wager token for entering and the top 10 finishers got additional wager tokens. I'm looking forward to another contest like that!

My point is there is a disparity between touted expectations and reality. I once thought that "unlimited word puzzles" meant I could take the old ones for an example. It boils down to if you want to write word puzzles and try over and over again on WR/ WM and probably want more guesses on the Who/What things, might be worth the money of Platinum. The other old argument is that it is about support of the site. I bought into that on 3 different occasions. This time when my membership expires-not anticipating quitting yet again, the site will get my support as a Gold member as paying membership although almost equal for Gold and Plat does have advantages over nonpaying-Linda

My daughter gifted me my current plat after a couple of frustrating months as gold. I missed those extra chances at various games, and I really missed being able to play with my avatar. I won't be going back to gold for those reasons, but mostly because I love this place and so many of the people here, and one of the worst things I can think of is waking up one morning and not having a Sploofus to log onto. That would be like a death in the family - my real life family isn't perfect, either, there are chronic problems and some of them don't work sometimes, but I'd be devastated if one of them just wasn't there one day.

I know Justin needs our support to keep this place going, and I'll give it as well as I'm able, both by keeping up my own plat and by gifting whenever I can. Yes, times are tight and money is scarce and nothing is perfect, but my plat is more than worth it, it's a helluva deal for what I get out of it.

Plats get the lovely blue background on our chat messages.

And according to the Upgrade page, Plats get the following:
-- Platinum membership card
-- Personalized favorites page

I never got a membership card, and I don't know what the "favorites page" is....

Lee,

Gold and Platinum members are both supposed to have access to "Larger Leaderboards!" but now that we are on Sploofus version 2.0, I think that all players (even non-paying) can see the same leaderboards. When I log off, I can see the same leaderboard stats as when I am logged on as platinum.

I haven't taken the step of paying for a membership yet. When I eventually do I will probably stay with a gold membership for the reasons that Lee mentioned. I would suggest to the powers-that-be that Platinums should get a wager token for a WTHAI? win. 100,000 points doesn't mean much to most paying members but a wager token would make the platinum level worth the extra money.

Maybe there should be a discussion of a Lifetime membership. It could be called a "Diamond" Membership. I don't know how much it should cost, is there a site to compare it to ?? All I know is that I pay $79.00 a year and Snooker is still a sport, I could have found that out for nothing.
