On December 15th, I was hospitalized with chest pains (couldn't find anything wrong).
3 days later my dog dug out under the fence and got hit by a car. (I'm still in mourning).
Then...there was Christmas...stressful but fun.
12/28 I got the flu ... 2 weeks after my flu shot.
12/31 my daughter in law (who lives with us, along with my son - just out of the military - and their 4 yr old and 1 yr old) went into labor 7 weeks early and had a baby boy on January 1st. He's still in NICU but doing very well.
I had my other 2 grandchildren by myself (hubby in Atlanta on business) for 5 days and nights. It's a young woman's job.
On Monday, my 17 year old flipped his car and totalled it. He's fine. His timing sucks.
I'm missing my Xanax days.
So.....what's goin' on with you guys?

Ahhh, the rollercoaster of life! So sorry to hear about your dog and all the rest. I sincerely hope that the baby does well and that the rest of 2009 is not so exciting. My thoughts are with you.

After reading your post- and compared to your recent holidays- I just forgot what I could gripe about.
I'm okay!

I hope life slows down for you soon. Sorry about the loss of your dog.
Congrats on your new grandchildren.
Keep your spirits up.

Take two peppermint patties; an aspirin and play Sploofus for a boost in energy!

Thank you Suzanne. I'm actually feeling pretty cheerful! It is what it is, ya know?

Well, no chest pains yet. Dog still ok. Flu came and went. No in-law problems. Grandchildren live 1100 miles away. Neither son has had any wrecks or DUI's lately. Wife seems to be reasonably friendly but still sexually indifferent. The stray cat I have been feeding may decide to move in at any time. So far so good.

I really hope 2009 is a better year for you than the ending of 2008! Sounds like there was never a dull moment at your house!

Daggum it! I broke a nail!

So that reminds me of a cartoon I saw once.

There's this guy in a hospital bed, in traction, wrapped head to toe in bandages, broken leg held up in a sling. His wife is in a chair beside the bed, reading a book.

Suddenly she yells, "OUCH! A papercut! That's just the most painful thing!"

I am so glad that everyone in your family has come through this alive and well. That YOU are alive and well now. That you're back here. You are loved and missed when you're gone!

All that and you managed to keep a sense of humor. Probably what got you through all that! I do hope things calm down for you soon. Congrats on being a grandmother again and I hope we will see more of you on Sploofus once things have become a little more settled. And I am so sorry about your dog.

Leah, I didn't mean to imply your sweet dog wasn't a part of the family. I'm so sorry you did lose him. I know you are grieving - even though you're overwhelmingly busy. I'm hoping the busy-ness helps keep you going through the pain of his loss.

Wow! You sure had some stuff to keep your mind off how much you missed your sweet companion!!! Good news/bad news seemed to happen for you. Quite a whirlwind, hope you've caught your breath. Congrats on the new grandchild, the best for continued progress there; much sympathy on the loss of your best pal. So sad.

Leah, sorry the past few weeks have been so difficult for you. Goodness knows, you've had your share of problems and then some.

Hopefully 2009 is looking up for you. Hang in there.

So sorry about your bad times lately, Leah. Know how hard it s to lose a beloved pet. You are certainly correct in saying that there is a time limit for a woman's child bearing years. My grands although love them dearly totally drive me nuts on a constant basis. Visiting is wonderful but the going and coming home is much more relaxing. Linda

Hi Leah,
Really hope your grandchild is getting better and stronger, and glad you had the opportunity
to hold the baby so soon.
What a good Grandmummy - looking after the other children by yourself. Just being around
children is exhausting, even you just sit on the couch and watch so much energy going on
around you. Hopefully their daddy looked after them as need to take care of
yourself as well, after your heart scare.
Glad your son was OK....must have had his seat belt on.A shock like that was all you needed.
So sorry to hear about your dog, and hope you won't miss your pet too much when things
finally quieten down at your house....(Sploofusers seem to be losing a lot of dogs lately????)
Things are supposed to come in THREE''ve had more than your fair hope
you have only the very best luck in 2009
Love and Hugs Leah. Take care of yourself.
