Tournaments are great fun; the only flaw is that you have to answer a bunch of quizzes and time is not of the essence.

How about the following idea for those who like to answer (but not ten quizzes) and who believe speed and not googling is an important criteria.

Sploofus sets his random number generator in place and every day at 12PM Eastern Time selects a quiz from those reviewed in the last 24 hours as Quiz of the DAY. Everyone who answers it 100% correctly in less than - say - 120 seconds, goes into the shortlist. One member of the shortlist selected at random wins say a wager token or 100K points, or SOMETHING.

New QOTD every day.

Just a thought.... (and by the way the last idea of mine that was put into action -- the membership quiz -- went down pretty well!)

I'll pass on this one-sorry, Barry Linda

What I was trying to say and sorry it did not come out politely, was that I am much more interested in getting the broken things fixed and issues that members have brought up-one of these concerning he very core of your idea-speed-addressed rather than anything "new" being introduced - Linda

Interesting idea, Barry. It does seem that it would require a lot of programming, so maybe the timing is not right yet. Keep 'em coming! I love contests and competitions, and enjoy what they bring to Sploofus.

Justin just posted yesterday that he's back. Yay! Let's welcome him without the doubts and chastisement. Who wants to go home again when you're greeted with that kind of thing? I'll bet that we see many improvements in the coming days and weeks.

I like the idea! I don't google for a quiz or the word puzzles so this appeals to me very much - great idea!

I don't know whether it is laughable or sad that people google on quizzes. It does irk me somewhat though when I do a tournament (with nary a google.......geez) and then find out that someone is say 95% correct but did it in a zillion seconds.

It is not an idea of particular interest to me because I take my time on quizzes, although if the quiz is randomly selected and 120 seconds is the allotted time, this would not necessarily just be for speed demons. I would think your suggestion would not take a lot of programming time but, like Linda, I would like to see a number of not currently functioning properly items dealt with first.

What about the people who've already taken that quiz? SOL?

Sounds like if it had been reviewed within 24 hours, it would have to be put on hold to launch till the next day. So one quiz, this special one, would be held purposely. Would that fix this problem, Donna?

My next question would be, then after that tournament were over after 24 hours to play, then the quiz would still stay live, right, for those of us who might not be able to take the quiz during the 24-hour tournament time?

I like when people are pumped about new ideas being instituted regularly. That keeps breathing fresh life into the site. The healthier Sploofus, the happier my day.

Does it involve firearms? I LOVE competitions that involve firearms.

I think it's a great idea. I stopped doing the tournaments because of the google factor.

I have another new idea for a tournament. It is "Guess the Date When Garrybl (Barry) Reaches # ! on the Sploofus All-Time Points Leaderboard". He has raced past most of us, to around 6th or 7th in ranking now. I know, because I have the Showdown loss record with him to show for it. How much longer do you think it will take for him to get there?
