Great puzzle. Lots of fun and a nice idea.
One clue which should have been banned but other than that it was fair and challenging -- and a very interesting mix because some clues allowed you to guess the subject matter some were only relevant when you'd finished the phrase....

Yeah, fun idea, but, wow, was it difficult! There was one in there that completely threw me off. I'll be curious when the competition is over whether others were completely stymied by the same one. Add to that my usual typos and brain lapses, plus my phone ringing off the hook at work (the nerve of some people!), I had a pretty embarrassing score and time.

Totally agree with Barry - in fact we must have had the same puzzles! Quite a mental workout but worth every minute. Lots of fun.

Fun and learned a thing or two. Hope your "no smoke" campaign is going well. Anne

Liked it a bunch. Love the ones with the lightbulb moments.

I like the concept here very much, but I'm not a big fan of puzzles with proper names since they don't follow the same rules as other words. To include both "Bochco" AND "Sipowicz," then add insult to injury and make them both possessive -- not to mention the added stress of an acronym ("Bochco's NYPD showed off Sipowicz's bare bottom for the first time") -- made it needlessly difficult. When it takes 13 letters for my first puzzle and 17 for the remaining four, something's not quite balanced ... although it did make those remaining four look easy-peasy.

Yep, it was that NYPD Blue one that did me in too. i just about went through the alphabet trying to figure out Bochco and NYPD. It's great to make WPs tough, but please stop short of quizes that inspire one to toss his or her PC out the window.

Lamizell and Daveguth -- duely noted. Will never make one that tough again. At the time of writing it we thought it was "cute" but it really was too tough.

That was the clue that drew my comment about being banned -- but of course this was a joke because that was the clue to the phrase....

It WAS a tough phrase but not impossible and if I'd been able to spell bochco with two cs not a k I would have been fine!
