12 INCHES

No, not John Holmes (sorry, recently watched "Wonderland").
That's how much friggin snow we have on the ground! IU cancelled classes for the first time since the Blizzard of '78.
It's a fine powdery snow with a thick layer of ice underneath.
Wish I was a kid again so I could rejoice in no school. Instead I got to shovel, shovel, shovel, just so I could get out of my driveway.

Cross country fun would be crossing the country, say to SoCal, on a jet!
Jank, never have tried it. It is beautiful though, and thank goodness we didn't get as much ice as some folks south of here. No downed powerlines, outages etc.

Sandracam is on a roll lately - you have been absolutely hilarious! I wish we could have some of your snow. We have only seen a few flurries here and there in Georgia - none that sticks! I want to play in the snow! Oh, but I don't want to shovel it!

You really know how to get a girls attention - what a headline!

To get back to the original meaning of the thread....
we had so much snow in Toronto yesterday - it took
us FOUR hours to go twenty miles into the Hospital
in the city centre.

My condolances, Sandy.

I moved here, leaving my snow shovel in Chicago.

We got softly-falling snow alternating with earth-tremors here in Anchorage, AK.

Nothing real deep in the snow: 'bout 5" - 6" in the past day or so...and the biggest tremor was 6.1.
I have seen the news on the north-eastern sector of the Lower 48, and reckon it looks far worse'n here.

Temperatures have been well into the minus though.....Br-r-r-r!

When I was at one of IU's fellow Big Ten schools, I made it a point to get a "Ski Illinois" t-shirt, complete with a picture of a guy on skis being pulled by a tractor through a field.

Here in Washington's NW suburbs, we collected only a couple inches of snow, but it then was coated with a nice and substantial glaze of ice. Not nearly as bad as in Kentucky, but enough to make conditions very treacherous yesterday. Not to mention that we then got that topped off with a hefty scoop of presidential ridicule.

Sandy - when I saw the name of your thread I thought you had caught Smaug with his pants down again.

Sucks to be you -- it's chilly here (50's).

when you're approaching 70 years
weighing 500 lbs and only 5 feet tall
all these new-fangled names for things
go right over your overcrowded head....
Don't need to be an American!!!!

I must apologize, but when I saw the title of this thread the first thing that popped into my mind was a joke I heard way back when. I believe the punchline was "Tell me about it, do you really think I wished for a twelve inch pianist?"...

I heard that last week, Al Gore's global warming presentation before Congress was delayed by an ice storm...lol....
