Has any one else noticed how the questions have been made more difficult. This applies especially to the Vocabulary questions, though some of the rubbish under Sport needs to be seen to be believed.

I don't agree - those are the ones I ace. Don't know diddly about pop culture - TV sitcoms, rock bands . . .

The question I got yesterday had been answered correctly by 97% of the people. I guess it's just the luck of the draw. My vocabs have been pretty easy lately - I keep kicking myself for not wagering on them. I save my wager tokens for Science questions. Actually, I've been in a pretty easy period overall. Maybe that's cuz you're gettin' the toughies!

The words on the vocab questions do seem for the most part exceedingly obscure to me....but I admit I get some easy ones as well.

vocab question? are there any still in circulation?

i seem to get stuck with TV questions like -- In episode xxx of ____ (insert a sitcom i've never watched), what color socks was _____
(a character i've only heard of by getting these questions) wearing?

i'll trade all those TV questions for a vocab or a science question at least once a week.

What I hate -- well, dislike intensely -- is a Vocabulary question about an obscure medical term.Such a question belongs in the Phyical Science category (of the current selection of categories).

While I'm at it, I'll mention again my disagreement with using the term "Physical Science" to include medical and other biology-type questions. I know, it's too late to change, but those questions would more properly be in a "Life Science" category, or something similar. Or, make the entire category just "Science."

I just lost another billion on a vocab question yesterday. I think I've had 7 of the last 10 vocabs wrong, all but 1 on a maximum wager, of course I got the non-wager 1 right Hopefully I'll get 1 I know when I earn a wager token. Should be grateful for small mercies, at least its not real money

Ouch! That's tough, Randy! Positive thoughts and good luck wishes for the rest of this year.

Actually no I have not noticed any increasing difficulty in vocab questions.
The music and science questions are another matter (but how much harder than 'can't do them' can you get?)

What irks me is getting a question on books and authors about something published in the last ten years that I have not read; of course its fair -- just not what I wanted!!

I think that might have been the original intent, Quackinator, but then that was set aside and even those at advanced levels have the same luck of the draw as the rest of us. But I'm obviously not sure on that.

Maybe an editor will be able to answer that question for us.

Sorry Quackinator, your post was deleted for revealing what a vocabulary question was about. The rest of Quackinator's post was as follows:

"I wish I'd get vocab questions more often, that's my favorite category.

As for questions becoming more difficult...isn't that supposed to happen as we advance in level?"

Salzypat's post is in reply to Quackinator's question. Pat is correct in that there is no correlation between a player's level and the difficulty of questions. The information in the Sploofus Survival Guide about this is incorrect, and we're in the process of updating it. We apologize for any confusion.

My apologies. I do know the rules about giving away answers on WP, quizzes, etc. I just thought that the TQOTD were more random, so that I wasn't giving up secrets about things that other people were going to encounter today.

Oh, see? What a wealth of information you guys are.
I couple of weeks ago I got a batch of really hard questions, all categories. OR...maybe my IQ had dropped due to the cold weather. Either way, I was intensely stupefied for several days in a row. I'm relieved to hear that's not because the difficulty of the questions increased. I got a random bunch, it sounds. So there is hope. I had visions of remaining at 8.1 for the next two years.

Funny! I know what you mean about asking on the color of socks (on socks: the name has been changed to protect the innocent). Some people would actually KNOW that. Scary!

I too like the sports questions. There's a really great variation on the kind of sport...

I get out of joint when I click on the answer and it sits there and spins and spins and spins until well past the time running out then I have to figure out what to do plus miss the answer. ARG!

The difficulty level varies randomly for me, which, along with my uncanny ability to misread questions which I "should" get right, makes TQOTD a good morning challenge.

All I know is the first four questions I've been offered this level have been in the three categories I won't wager on. Of course, through some combination of luck, skill and educated guessing, I got three of them right. So unless I'm fed a Geog tomorrow or something, I'm looking to carry two Wager Tokens into Level 89 ...

I hate hostility. NO MORE WAR!!

I think I should just withdraw my troops, close my POW camp, and abdicate my throne to you as a princess/leader who can finally give us hope....and change.

The queen is dead.....long live the queen - Her Royal Majesty Hotness Chick! (but...who is Kelly?)

I got TQOTD #4563121365464 and pushed C and got it right. I did notice that the number who got it right was 100%. Aside to HRH Chick, we are listening to your every word. I have started entering the question number that I want on the night before hand. That way, I can prepare. In addition, on the statistics chart, I selected Questions that are answered right more than 80% of the time. I have also asked that all pot pouri questions be about Washington D.C. and all history questions should be about American wars. No more 100 year stuff! I think the best way to handle the vocab questions is to have the right answer in bold. That way, when we try to do them while we are just awaking, we won't have to open both eyes. Now, back to the Princess. I think today is my turn to wash her feet.

Had an easy vocab. question today, but, be warned, there are some real stinkers out there now. Someone has been into the book of obscure words, hence my warning. I am far from stupid, but some of the vocab, questions would try the knowledge of an "English" University proffessor. Happy splooffing. Bill

Today's vocab question was not easy. It was more like a trivia question.

No Jank, you must not abdicate (unless you've taken an illicit lover or something). Many of us here worship the crown.

Cutting off my ears after you have cut off my head seems a little pointless, does it not. Disembowelling was also pointless if the bloke was dead first.

I think they should tell us how many people
have already got the answer right, before we
bet or precious points !!!!

That's a great point, Row. An informed gambler is a....well, i can't think what, but definitely it would be more comfortable to throw your points on the line.
