ANY OTHER AMERICAN IDOL FANS OUT THERE?

Can one of you PLEASE explain to me how Kevin Covais is still around...or for that matter even made it to Hollywood?? WHO votes for him??

I have a friend whose 7 yr old daughter cried til they let her vote for Kevin. Probably a million other little girls doing the same thing. My heart skipped a beat when Ace was in the bottom 3. From now on, I vote for Ace, Chris, Taylor, Catherine and Mandisa!

I couldn't believe Ace was in the bottom 3 either... My jaw about dropped to the floor. I wasn't surprised about Melissa going home though. From now on, I'm voting for Chris, Ace & Taylor... Don't ask me why but I really like Taylor... But Chris is my absolute favorite... And Ace is just so gorgeous, LOL

By the way, this is my first post ever on these chat boards, so I hope you don't mind me putting in my 2 cents!!

What?! Haven't you heard...Kevin is a sex symbol?! Yeah...

At some point (we can only hope for next week!), his mouth or his lack of talent will get him booted. Until then , my volume gets muted whenever he's on camera and cranked for Taylor and Chris!

I generally tivo it and then watch it later so am thankfully able to just fast forward right through him. I seriously almost peed my pants last night though in shock when they said ace was in the bottom three, kevin safe.

I think ace was shocked too--did you see his face? His gorgeous, sexy face? I think his song choice is what did it, as Kevin picked a more popular song. Maybe next week "that little boy" (as my mom calls him)) will be gone.

Do you really want to know why Kevin keeps on keepin' on?

Have you ever heard of http://www.votefortheworst.com

They literally pick the worst American Idol constestant and encourage people to vote for him/her every week. They claim that is how Carrie Underwood won over Bo Bice last year.

Anyway, I'm one of those 'slacker' watchers - I listen to what everyone else is talking about and then watch the last 2 or 3 episodes - I'm just not that into talent shows - never have been.

Vote for the worst doesn't have any where near the numbers to affect the outcome of 46million votes cast.
People say they are surprised and pissed when Kevin stays, and then say they are voting for Ace because he is gorgeous. Ace is only barely marginally a better singer than Kevin, and at least Kevin entertains me. I would love to see Ace go before Kevin.
Mandissa, Katherine, Chris and Taylor would be my final four choices

Kevin is cute and sarcastic (ya'll know I love that)way beyond his years....and that's about it. An Idol? Not in my book.

I think that Chris, Taylor, Mandissa and yes...Ace have got that "sumpin sumpin" that makes me root for them.

If this show produces on more "vanilla" Idol, I'm done. I enjoy it, but I am begining to think the only ones voting are 15 year old girls (hence the Carrie/Kelly winners).

My vote is for Chris...need more rock in the Idol....

See, usually I rever sarcasm, but Kevin's is strictuyl a result of all this 'sex symbol' talk going to his young 16-year old head. I was VERY surprised that Kevin's attitude towards Simon on Tursday (and it WAS attitude) didn't cost him this week, because lIke Simon or not, Simon's criticism IS heeded by the audience!

I like Katherine. I think she's holding back and will cut loose soon. But I also like Taylor & Chris. Taylor entertains me but I'm ready for somebody to rock Idol so I like Chris. I actually like Elliot's voice a lot - its just hard to look at him.

I'm still pouting over Bo losing to Carrie.

I love American Idol. I though Bo was fantastic last year. If he ever fancies a holiday in Ireland he is welcome here

I am not sure who my favourite this year. I think the girls are better overall.

I am quite ucky because we get the girls nad the boys progs back to back on a saturday lat afternoon with a couple of other programs and then the results but if i miss that another channel has the lot on Sunday starting 11am-ish.

If I don't have much happening I have been known to watch both days !! How sad is that ROFL

Does anyone think that maybe, jsut maybe, they fix the bottom three for entertainment value? Sure Melissa had the least votes, but it was way more entertaining for her to be standing next to Ace and Lisa that if it was her, Kevin, and Bucky. This way it keeps people talking. Gets people voting. Anyone??

I don't think it's fixed-I think it is a result of people (like me) who only try to vote for a couple of minutes then call it quits. I will not give up next week, though. Ace cannot be in the bottom 3 again. My heart can't take it. Someone above said Ace could only sing a little better than Kevin!!!??? I could listen to and watch Ace, Taylor and Chris all day, while I can only bear 10 seconds of the little dweeb! Thank God for DVRs!

Hey I like Bucky!

Elliot's my favorite though. Gotta love that wonky little Shane MacGowan smile. (And of course he has a great voice)

Kevin and the other boys like him that get through year after year are getting the pre-teen vote. They think he's cute, and he's unthreatening, and so they don't mind his incredibly distracting lisp.
I was disappointed (but not surprised) that he beat out Gedeon, who would have been so much more interesting to watch.

Thanks for the post Tjwgct! The few people I knew who watched got tired of the show, so I never get to geek out on it anymore!

Yeah, okay, I have to admit being Idol-obsessed. The funniest Idol blog on earth can be found at televisonwithoutpity.com. It's the only TV I consistently watch, and I confess to talking to the television. Kevin's last performance is the first time I laughed uproariously at a performance. He dances like Pee Wee Herman. And Gedeon left for that guy? It confirms what I think about the world.

I really don't ever vote either, so I guess I shouldn't complain...it just drives me crazy that year after year there is one annoying boy (think anthony federov and john stevens) that stays around, sometimes I think, just to drive me batty! Kevin puts them all to shame.

Chris was amazing..actually he is week after week. This week though was WOW! Mandisa too...besides the two of them I could take 'em or leave 'em. Not at all Steve. My eyes and ears have never been sullied with that junk and I don't feel the least bit deprived. Studies have shown that television watchers, especially talk show junkies, have a higher rate of Alzheimer's and other dementias. I have to wonder, though, what future studies will show about people who spend inordinate amounts of time on the computer. Hmmm.

I'm completely unapologetic about it. I watch less TV than the average person and probably read ten or more times than the average. I'm not ashamed to pick apart people's song selection, as long as I can move just as easily into a deconstruction of Pinter. Diversity is key. It doesn't matter if you watch TV or not. It matters what ELSE you do.

Ace, for all his smolderability (real word?), needs to go, but here's my worry: at this stage some of the bad people dig deep and pull good performances out of their depths and stick around for awhile. Also at this point, a good performer gets comfy, takes a risk, sings some gawdawful song, and disappoints everyone. Get ready for a weird week next week, I predict.

I feel bad for the contestants when they get mixed messages. "That was a safe song for you, you need to take a risk." Only to follow with "That was not the right song for you, you need to find your niche and stay within it." I wish, just once, that someone would come unglued and ask the judges just what the hell they are talking about.
