I have 129 showdown tokens which I will never use because I am too chicken to challenge anybody and I was wondering if there was a way to trade them in for wager tokens. 10 showdown tokens for one wager token sounds like a good deal. What does anyone else think of this idea?

I wish.

I have 158 showdown tokens. I've never challenged anyone although I accept all challenges. When I go to a casino and bet real money I don't show much restraint. But when my brain is on the line I'm also a chicken. Go figure.

I'd be more than willing to trade my one wager token
for 25 showdown tokens.

It's all about strategy.

Then only thing a Sploofuser has to fear...............................................

is fear itself!

What do I do with all my showdown tokens?

[I'm fearless; ask Jank.]

Fearless, relentless, and withstands a heck of a swirly.

Despite the fact that I tend to lose because the broadband in Spain is CRAP, I still cant resist using my showdown tokens. I accept all showdowns against me, with a modicum of success, but no matter how quickly I answer, my broadband always manages to add a minimum of 5 Seconds. Sometimes I feel cheated, when, having answered immediately, and told my time is 8 or 9 seconds( the Spain factor), and that my opponent beat me because they had answered in 7 seconds. What a load of rubbish, but still I use my Showdown Tokens.

How about a Showdown-a-thon. We all agree to stage a showdown on some specified day...maybe next Saturday or Sunday? Everyone put on your brave face and bite the bullet and JUST DO IT!

You might find that you like it! It could add some serious movement on the Leaderboards

No wager tokens , & just 8 showdown tokens. So, I enjoy a challenge !!!!!

I showdown every Sunday -- I can't stand to let them sit! Once I was able to hold a TOQD vocab to wager but it bugged me to wait!

Geez: use one a day for the next number of months. Even if you only win 60% you'll probably move up 100 spots in 3 months.

Give um to me! I never have any.

BBear, you stole my idea!

My goal for this month has been to do a showdown every day.
I missed Feb. 3, but am so far keeping to schedule. I'm 10-3-2
not counting two that haven't been decided. Tomorrow I will do
my 100th showdown in a little over a year.

I much prefer Showdowns to wager tokens. I freeze when there
are a lot of points on the line. In the last month or so I have lost
800 M and 600 M. Eventually I got those points back, but it was
time consuming. I've yet to "bet the max" and probably never
will. I try to use my wager tokens strategically.

My strategy the last year, such as it is, has been to wager small
with W. tokens to move into position to use showdowns. I look
a few places ahead of me at statistics and decide who I have
the best chance of beating and challenge them.

The reason I decided to burn all my showdown tokens now (I
still have 21 and plan to go on 'til I'm down to five or so) is that
the competition will only get harder if I keep moving up. Besides,
after a player goes past 2.15 billion points, their risk is really
limited. Any showdown gain/loss is only 215 million, so as BBear
points out, even if you lose a few, you'll probably win a few, so
why not have fun?

Similarly, because of the limit on points I can see why people
with tens of billions of points don't bother, but I figure every five
wins for me is about a billion points and If I can keep winning 7
or 8 of every 10 I can make a pretty good move up the

So, listen to Suzer, Pennwoman and BBear. Have fun and
take a risk!

You can't use them up that fast.

I authored a showdown about midnight my time last night, but here 21-22 hours later I can't author another one for 7-8 hours - until 6am. Thus a real interval of 30 hours between showdowns, not 24.

Andy - I've always been able to author a further showdown 1 minute after the 24 hour period is up.

Well, mine seem to have a 6-hr delay built in.

Perhaps it has to do with a difference in time zones. I am in GMT +1. In the US you are in GMT-5, -6, -7, and -8.

I too am just not on board with the showdownathon - though I'd love to be. Even when I know the answer, my broadband is so slow, I answer and then sit there and watch the time run down unregistered. It's just a waste of points for me. Wish it wasn't that way. Last year I could play at school and their server was lightning fast. This year, can't do that.

It's like today's economy: 500,000 showdown tokens = 1 free wager token. Maybe. It's like an arcade game, in other words. 8 billion tickets for a novelty pencil.

Andy - I am in the UK so I am GMT!

EDITORS -- Scathingly brilliant idea.

How about a Showdown Showdown? All platties and golds can create a new, temporary name. You give everyone 10 (or 20 or whatever) tokens. Every time you win a challenge you get 5 more (or whatever).

The last one standing gets five "real" tokens for their "real" identity.

Identities must remain anon.

The only catch --- is would we have to to pay for a temp gold????

Well, Nell, I just staged a showdown at 11:25 GMT and the clock has 161.5 hrs to run - that's more than 7 days. I will see if I can repeat tomorrow after just 24 hours.

OK, Nell. You were correct. Just staged another 24h05min after last and barely got it right. Whew!

So how long does one have to wait until completed/expired Showdowns are settled?

7 days. Give or take a few hours.

How about 20 hours?
