FAT TUESDAY

And yes, I'm getting fatter. Made my world famous jambalaya today (ok, it's the first time), but hey the kids LOVED it (I think they're related to me so they LOVE hot & spicy food). Didn't show my chest today, so no beads for me

Happy Fat Tuesday!!

HRH...Me.

Today in the Balance Class that I teach to older adults, I announced that it was Fat Tuesday.

The witty remark from Betty the Wisecracking Octogenarian ... "FAT EVERYDAY!" Betty has trouble with her speech usually, but she must have felt it whole heartedly because it come out loud and clear.

We all busted up.

Happy Fat Tuesday to all of you!

Fat Tuesday is also known as Paczki Day in Hamtramck and the surrounding area. A pazcki (pronounced poonch key) is a traditional Polish treat kind of like a super jelly donut. Years ago, polish moms and grammas used all of the sugar, flour, and lard in their cupboards before lent. Hence, pazckis were born! They are enormous globs of glazed, rich, eggy dough traditionally crammed with raspberry, lemon or prune fillings. Pazki from the New Palace Bakery in Hamtramck are to die for! Hamtramck is a city within the city of Detroit.

Chickens do not have nipples because they don't suckle their young. When a chick is hatched, it automatically begins eating chicken feed. It does not take milk from it's mother.

On a related subject? Male chickens [Roosters] have spurs.

A farmer clarifies.
They grow as the rooster grows. We have some juveniles that are a few months old and theirs are about 1/2 an inch long. Our mature rooster that's about 3 years old (his father was murdered a few months ago and he became the alpha male) has spurs that are 2 1/2 to 3 inches long. His father's were probably about an inch longer than that when he was murdered.

Roosters are also called cocks [from the Old English "coc".]

Is Mardi Gras over yet? Oh, the police just marched down Bourbon Street- time to go home.

Chickens don't have nipples? I'll have you know that I've been drinking chicken's milk for years now - delicious! Or have I - Dear God - what have I been drinking?

And if you are around those roosters with those spurs, run like the dickens, because roosters are MEAN! They'll chase you and claw you with those spurs.

Not that I know this personally, of course, but that's what I've been told.

Was it their UNIX/Linux password, their oil production, an album by the Ruts, some sort of gossip, or just plain old freebasing?
