MY PROFOUND APOLOGY TO BARRY AND MAURLIN

I should have checked today's Featured Player thread before I accused them of not posting to it-they did. Since this thread is in keeping with what they believe BELONGS here, I appreciate them doing that. Would think it equally nice if they congratulated people they don't know as well-perfunctory as they believe that to be-Barry's pm. I was wrong in this case and apologize for that- Linda

Thanks for the apology and the backhanded compliment! I do congratulate and welcome people, but with a Personal Message to the individual person, rather than in Chat where they may not ever read it.

Linda, you know...it's crap like THIS THREAD that keeps me from being a regular contributor. Your continual cynical commentary is very discouraging and lost its entertainment value LONG AGO. Who the hell needs YOU to be their judge? There's no need for you to get all sniffy and quit AGAIN because you're being criticized, but when you ask, AD NAUSEUM, where all the "old guard" went...did you ever think that YOU might have driven them away?

Something to think about.

I second that notion, would love to see you find something to be happy about Linda!

Okay lets talk about the Word puzzles as they certainly are not disected ad nauseam. I get very little pleasure out of reading good job-bad job or how many letters one blew and lost so many points either because of length or spelling differences etc. etc appreciate those who write them as I do the quiz writers to but pretty much skip threads about them as you are free to skip any of my posts-Linda

Rnmorg, you give me WAY too much power if you think I drove anyone away from this site. I quit before because of comments made on threads which many believe are what are SUPPOSED" to be there. If you chose not to post or participate any more because of anything i say then i am flattered that you think my views so powerful. Think you will find that people many like my son who got me started here just lost interest and was too busy doing real-life things. The exodus which caused a lot of grief here seemed to be precipitated by one particular political thread which I did not participate in at all until deletions started taking place. I am still not sure exactly what happened and really not my business but know it involved a falling out between face-to face friends and disappointment in Justin's neglect of problems on the site. Linda

See, there it is again. Did you ever stop to think that MAYBE...if you have to add caveats to EVERY SINGLE post (None of MY business, BUT...No offense intended...BUT) then maybe you should rethink whether you should reply or make your post? I'm certainly not saying that you are violating a rule, just being tedious and tiresome to the population in general. And yes, you are right...you shouldn't flatter yourself that you are the sole reason people have left...just as one individual mosquito shouldn't blame himself for Malaria or West Nile virus.

We all have the right to post whatever we like within certain ill-defined "family-friendly" limits. Linda has the right to post political rants to her heart's content. Some people feel empowered when complaining about stuff - gives them a sense of engagement or control, and who are any of us to deny her that pleasure for which she has paid through the nose (I am reminded) repeatedly?

By the same token, we are all equally free (even the freebies) to post as often as we like that confrontational posturing and backbiting is unwelcome and no fun. I'm paraphrasing, not accusing anyone at all; I'm sure there are a few who would hurl the same at me.

I don't mind the political give and take - I welcome substantive discussions. What is deplorable is the tone, and for any contribution I may have made to it, again, I truly apologize. This used to be a warmer and friendlier place, but we went into a shadow during the election campaigns, and we haven't come out of it yet.

I know we are capable of discussing and disagreeing on substantive issues without personal insults and put-downs and hostility and hurt feelings - we've done it before. There are ways to say you doubt a person's facts and sources without implying that you doubt their sanity, their intelligence, or their integrity. It IS possible to respectfully disagree.

Yeah, I'd like to see us go back to being polite. We can do better..

Unlike YOU, Linda...I have not made an ultimatum out of my observation, just a commentary. You are annoying. Plain and simple. Of course you have the right to post when and where you please...just as every dog has the right to sh*t in everyone else's yard when he doesn't know any better. I'm just letting you know better. Now you know.

TWO FRIENDS WERE WALKING THROUGH THE DESERT. DURING SOME POINT OF THE JOURNEY, THEY HAD AN ARGUMENT; AND ONE FRIEND SLAPPED THE OTHER ONE IN THE FACE.

THE ONE WHO GOT SLAPPED WAS HURT, BUT WITHOUT SAYING ANYTHING, WROTE IN THE SAND: TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SLAPPED ME IN THE FACE.

THEY KEPT ON WALKING, UNTIL THEY FOUND AN OASIS, WHERE THEY DECIDED TO TAKE A BATH THE ONE WHO HAD BEEN SLAPPED GOT STUCK IN THE MIRE ! AND STARTED DROWNING, BUT THE FRIEND SAVED HIM. AFTER HE RECOVERED FROM THE NEAR DROWNING, HE WROTE ON A STONE: 'TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SAVED MY LIFE '

THE FRIEND WHO HAD SLAPPED AND SAVED HIS BEST FRIEND ASKED HIM, 'AFTER I HURT YOU, YOU WROTE IN THE SAND AND NOW, YOU WRITE ON A STONE, WHY?'
THE FRIEND REPLIED 'WHEN SOMEONE HURTS US WE SHOULD WRITE IT DOWN IN SAND, WHERE WINDS OF FORGIVENESS CAN ERASE IT AWAY. BUT, WHEN SOMEONE DOES SOMETHING GOOD FOR US, WE MUST ENGRAVE IT IN STONE WHERE NO WIND CAN EVER ERASE IT.'

LEARN TO WRITE YOUR HURTS IN THE SAND AND TO CARVE YOUR BENEFITS IN STONE.

THEY SAY IT TAKES A MINUTE TO FIND A SPECIAL PERSON, AN HOUR TO APPRECIATE THEM, A DAY TO LOVE THEM, BUT THEN AN ENTIRE LIFE TO FORGET THEM.
