I just returned from the eye doctor with my son Tim. The doctor found some damage to his iris and scheduled him to see a specialist on Monday the 16th. That was the soonest he could get him into see someone. We maybe looking at surgery. Our eye doctor said his iris had "popped" out...I've never heard of that before and needless to say it's scared me. Please remember him in your prayers...I'll let everyone know how things go between now and when he sees the specialist. Thanks everyone...

Your son is going on my "prayer card" right now and it's above my computer screen where I will see it frequently throughout the day.

Oh, Vickie, you must be freaking out - surely they would've made sure that your son received more immediate attention if it were a potentially dangerous situation. Try to be calm and know that you have lots of love and support here. You and your son will definitely be in my thoughts and prayers.

Vicki, you have my prayers and encouragement. I believe eye surgery has advanced beyond any expectations. These guys perform miracles. I know it sounds gruesome but it is probably something that can be repaired. You got it in time. Good work by your son. Eyes are important and need a specialist. Keep us informed. JIM

He's in my prayers. Good luck.

BTW I tried to find something online about this, but this must be rather rare in children unless as a result of trauma.

If they're willing to wait a week, it must not be urgent but it surely sounds serious.

(FYI I do a lot of self analysis online before I ever take something to the doctor and afterward as well. is superb)

Thank you!
When my ex was a kid, his retina detached from playing sports. That was scary enough, but even way back then they did a great job fixing it.

I don't know what could cause an iris to detach, but I sure am praying for complete recovery!

I don't "do" prayers, but i truly hope things work out for your son. It must be a nightmare time for you, i can't imagine what you're going through. As a diabetic in Britain i get "free" retinal scans. Often when i turn up people have just not bothered keeping their appointment, can you imagine that ? I dread the day i'm told i'm going to need laser treatment, but it's a hell of a lot better than the alternative.

Control your diabetes, Dave, and you'll probably never have laser treatment on your retina.
