A few of us have been chatting and thought we would test the idea of a sploofus cookbook. We would collect recipes from all of you fellow sploofusers and arrange them into a cookbook. We have a couple ideas for distributing it. However, first we need to know the level of interest. Talk back and let us know if you are interested and willing to contribute.

Leave room for us Steve - with all your cooking quizzes that would make a big cookbook in its self - lol

Sounds a great idea.
Can we make sure some kind of conversion chart goes with it please - I am fairly sure if I use my cup when it says 'cup' the recipe will be awful as it holds a pint of tea lol

I'm in...would love to see recipes from all over the world. The wealth of Sploofus lies in its global community.

Steve, Linenlady and I were giving this idea the in W/R "shouts" yesterday.
I have traded recipes for years, and would love to run some by you for approval.
What wonderful international compilation it would be!
I am confident the idea is a winner!

I am not seeing this as a buy a copy thing. I am just seeing it as community/family thing. It seems to be developing interest. We will have to figure out how to submit the recipes.

Hey Tuzilla, how bout same method Sploofus uses to give editors access to quizzes? He could make you an 'editor' of the cookbook and we could send stuff in as if we were writing quizzes. That way you don't have to change the architecture.
Then we could just keep a prioritized thread open like we had for that map of the world thing for a while, remember? There we could discuss format, chapter organization, etc, make it a real community effort.
Anyway, count me in.

So it won't be a printed cookbook? Just an online version?

I should have several to add, glad to help out.

Brilliant idea! It should generate some wonderful and unusual recipes. I look forward to seeing it up and running Tuzilla.

I'm in. I have a recipe for the best banana nut bread I've ever tasted. Every time I take a loaf to a gathering folks roll their eyes and say 'No, I'm dieting'. But it's always gone in 10 minutes.

The discussion is that we will try to get it into a form that can be downloaded, maybe as pdf file which everyone can read and print with adobe reader (which is a free download).

how about setting it up on a free web site?
You could have a seperate forum topic for each catogory - beef chicken veg, Traditional Recipes From..., Historical Recipes or whatever else anyone thought was suitable topic headers.
Everyone could submit their own recipe, each in a new thread, and comments from users could be posted under the recipe.

Just an idea.

If its a free website, wouldn't anybody be able to post, not just sploofers?

I have not really thouhgt about this in great detail as the idea only came to me a short while ago.

A site would just be theplace to host a forum (free) The one on my website is from

I have it set up so people trying to access it need to register and wait to be approved.
If people register with thier Sploofus ID's it woull be simple enough to check if they are members here.
Part of the registration includes sending a message so anyone wanting to change names could also say 'I am --------- on Sploofus.
As we are all Gold or platignum members a message could be sent via this site to confirm this.
You can link straight to a message board but I thought having a seperate site would allow for a brief explaination of the site and an Ad for Sploofus on the main page.

The person who opens the site can appoint other members to act as Moderators and decide what level of access they have.

If someone was to slip in somehow you can always ban them if thy are a problem.

Or we can just send our recipes to tuzilla, he will compile them in one document, send it to me and I will convert it to pdf, send it to Justin, he will create a link on sploofus, you click on the link and TA-DA, you have a cookbook in pdf format. Save it to your hard drive and print only the pages you want. Can also be made available in Microsoft Word. Cheap, easy, no websites to be made, no passwords. Just click on the link. Magic!

Sounds perfect, eesus. Add a dedicated or prioritized thread or whatever they're called so we can talk about it as we create it and Bob's yer uncle.

Sorry I will keep my ideas to myself in future eesusbejesus.
I was just looking of other possibilities for something that could be a growing project - also would not require one person having to do all the work.

Sorry for getting in the way .

Mrsgc....don't think Eesus was meaning any harm...she's just being her sarcastic self.

Your post was one is ever "getting in the way". Just trying to verbalize the possibilities.

Have A Nice Day

Actually wasn't trying to be sarcastic at all. Kinda shocked at her response. There's been more than 1 person working on this, Mrsgc. We chat behind the scenes.

P.S. Jedley - my uncle's name was Buster. But thanks for the props. You share some of your exotic recipes and I'll share my roasted weenie on a stick, deal?
