Consider this fact, courtesy of

Last night, as many of you know, the men's basketball teams at Syracuse University and the University of Connecticut played a game that required SIX overtimes to determine a winner. Only one game in NCAA major (Div. 1) college history had lasted longer. That one went seven OT's.

Thanks to ESPN's crack team of investigative reporters, we now know that that seven-OT game has, in a most fascinating coincidence, something in common with the longest NBA game ever played: a six-OT marathon.

I'll give you 5 answers Sploofus style: Can you guess what those two games had in common?

-- Missed free throws with no time left on the clock at the end of regulation sent both games into overtime
-- Oscar Robertson played in both those games
-- Played on the same date, exactly 24 years apart
-- The same final score
-- They were played in the same arena

I thought you'd never ask.

The two had the same exact final score. 73-61, if I recall.

(Both were before the debut of shot clocks in their respective leagues, I believe.)
