I checked Rowlanda's profile page and noted she had not been logging on for probably a couple weeks. I left a couple e-mails for her to just send me a sentence or two of how she was doing so I could let all of you know. She usually responded within 24 hours, but again, not a word from her.

Before she went into the hospital she had sent me several phone numbers where I could contact the hospital and her friend. I decided today I couldn't wait any longer to hear what was happening so I called and visited with Rowlanda.

To recap: The first round of treatment for leukemia did not work, so they immediately began a second round of chemo. She's been in the hospital 50 days.

As a result of the treatments she wasn't able to walk for some time so she couldn't get to the computer room - and then when she could get to the computer room someone was always on it so she couldn't check her e-mails.

The good news is that the doctors think this round of treatment has worked. Her daughter has been there I think since mid-February, but she has to return to work, so Rowlanda's son will be with her for I think she said a few weeks. She hopes to be going to her home next week, maybe midweek.

I believe it was her son who had taken her out to lunch today, her first outing, so she was quite excited about that and said she had really enjoyed it.

When she gets back home and on her computer, we'll have to bump up the recent posts that have been left for her so she can read the messages.

So, hopefully the next time you hear about Rowlanda it will be news directly from her!

Sorry to say....Honey, my 17 1/2 year old Spaniel died a week ago
at my friend's Tom's House. She was wrapped in a blanket and placed
in a tote box....and he drove her to the back door of the Hospital,
so I could tell her what a good dog she had been and how I loved her.
I petted her for a while pretty baby....and then Tom took her to
the crematorium. It was very special and I really appreciate him doing all
that - so I got tosay goodbye.. It will probably will really hit me when I get home....

The other dog, Golden, is to stay at Tom's house until he decides
if he wants to keep her. At 100lbs, she way too big and lively for me
and I can't keep paying someone to walk her every day. I think I was
lied to about her age when I got her, and she was probably a big, but
quite young pup - say 8 months....not 2 1/2..... I know you know about
Toronto Winters - nuff said - so I can't take a chance with her on the ice.
And my friends are terrified about how much she shows she loves them.
If she could knock them on the ground and lick 'em all over, that would be
the best!!!!
Sorry I didn't say about Honey before....
Lots of Love from Rowlanda XXXXXXX

She loves it at Tom's luckily enough so it will work out I hope

So sorry about Honey, glad Tom was kind enough to help make it a little easier. Sounds like Golden is too much of a handful for you, hope that works out. Maybe you can get a wee older dog when you're feeling better. We got a 6 mo old female Border Collie, named Jersey, a few weeks ago. We'd all been missing the pitter-patter of four feet so much since Pongo died. She's a going concern, herding Dickey birds for hours on end and she's got me out walking again, bless her. Sending you hugs

Yea! I'm so excited for you. But Row, it's the ROAD to recovery, not the STAIRS. Stay on the road, girl.

I bet you were actually dancin' with joy. I love when prayers are answered with "yes!" Now you are our walking, talking, typing Sploofusing miracle.

Achad and Jeanette....very clever guess....but I have to tell you, there is NO PART OF ME
that requires shaving right now....I did find ONE hair on my leg and CUT it off....
Neither Bikinis nor Waxes hold any appeal for me....and with that comment I am not about
to expand on the subject!!!!
The problem was the extent of Chemo required in Leukemia, and my "Chemo brain" told me
to put my foot on top of the other foot, instead of on the next step, as I went I went
down instead!!!!
Never mind....they tell me I'll be almost as good as new - maybe - in a few months....
Lots of Love from Rowlanda, and thanks to everyone for the good wishes.
