I know that the editors have been trying to get the queue down but I do not think it is fair on the people who are writing the quizzes if too many go through in one day. 18 quizzes have been published in the last hour. That means at that rate the quiz is off the page before anyone has really had a chance to see the new quizzes.
What is the point in writing them if very few people have a chance to take them in the first day or so. From a quiz writers point of view the feed back you get is important.
I honestly can't see the point in busting myself to write quizzes if they a valued so poorly in terms of quick turnover.
I think I'll be rethinking the effort I've been putting into writing them.

We had some catching up to do, but the quiz queue is down so I think quizzes will last a little longer on the "Most Recent" list than they did today. Have you considered a "Be the Tournament" entry? I have bumped it up to the top of the Hot Wire. You would qualify and it is a great way of getting folks to take your quizzes.

On a related topic, whatever happened to the practice of having only one quiz per person on the "most recent" page? That seemed fairer than including multiple quizzes by the same person, often bumping other quiz writers off the page.

Carreau has a good point. I know I have been guilty of launching several quizzes together, but that is because I am trying to keep up with others who have multiple quizzes on the front page. If *everyone* was allowed only one quiz a day, the quality of the quizzes would improve - we wouldn't see so many "list" quizzes (What is the capital of France? What is the capital of China? What is the capital of Germany?).

It would mean that editors would have to liaise more closely with each other to ensure that everyone gets a fair go. Those of us who write lots of quizzes may feature every day but some of the authors who only write two or three a week will have their quizzes in pride of place for a longer time.

Is that a possible, or am I just dreaming?

I'm not complaining just on my behalf. A lot of people write very good quizzes and by churning through the editing like this is devaluing the effort that people put in to write a quiz. To me the feedback I get from players is the most important. It tells me whether the players like that type of quiz, where I need to improve and whether I'm doing a good job. If they are gone before players really get a chance to see them then few people get to take them ( unless they are searching) and the writer does not get the feedback that is so important.

I also agree with Carreau that the old system was a fair one.

Re Be the tournament, I have entered, but that wasn't my point. I just feel disappointed that the quiz writers are not being given reasonable time with their quizzes up for all to see. Newer players may not be aware of the button that expands the Most Recent List.

Right now there's nothing we can do to change how quizzes are posted...but we can try to be positive about the fact they are not wallowing in editing limbo!

We need people to share other ways to find quizzes besides the Most Recent List.

Are people using "search"?

Are you looking in specific categories?

Do you use the "Topics" listed at the bottom of the main page?

When was the last time you posted to (or checked what's on) "The Hit List"?

I don't have time to take quizzes all the time - so when I do, I head right to the topics. I always head to Food first - take the ones newer than the crossed off ones on my list - then, if I have time, head over to Science.

If, while taking quizzes, I find that I really enjoy a particular one, I will go to the link on the right of the quiz, and check out some of the other quizzes that author has written. That then leads to the next author, cause I frequently see a related topic that was posted at the quiz I was taking.

Bottom line - I never look at the "new quiz" list. And I never look at the "most popular" list. I do look at the Random EA award list, to see if some topic there is of interest.
