I rejoined 3/7 and was gifted with a year of platinum on 3/8. My expiration date says 3/8/2010.

I recently found out that another lovely sploofuser gifted me with a gold membership on the same day. I received no notice of the gift. My expiration date doesn't acknowledge it, but sploofus has the money as it never refunded the purchaser.

What's the haps? You guys give yourself million dollar bonuses or something?

If for some reason anybody else sent gift memberships and didn't get a thank you from me, its because I only ever received the 1st notice.

Editors cannot see the records of payments to Sploofus. That is not something within our purview. We have to verify those things through Justin. However, now being aware of the situation, it is still a little complicated. The editable page with the information about your account only has one set of boxes for an expiration date a membership level. We cannot simultaneously list your platinum membership and its expiration date, and the subsequent gold membership and expiration date. The space does not exist.

Submit a support ticket with this information, and keep a record of it. We will manually fix it on the date when the platinum expires, and you switch to a year of gold.

And in regard to your inquire about our bonuses, YES, we are a little miffed about their reduction in size.

Welcome back, Lodi!

This is (and has been) one of those lovable idiosynchrasies of Sploofus that contributed to your leaving a while back. Apparently, the code for calculating expiration dates for renewals and gift memberships can't calculate how to add, e.g., one year to your expiration date. It can only work with the current calendar date.

The same thing just happened to me and probably everyone else who purchased a gift membership for Valentine's Day to get the "discount" renewal price. My previous membership was to expire in early April, but when I renewed it for one year effective Valentine's Day it now expires on February 14, 2010. So I got about 10 months for the price of 12. Because it was "discounted" I didn't complain, but it wasn't much of a discount.

Your benefactors got screwed much worse.

It is only a problem because of the level of membership change. If it were two consecutive gold or platinum memberships, then linking them would not be an issue.

In my Valentine's Day case, I was renewing a Platinum membership with a Platinum membership. So there shouldn't have been any problem. Right?

I still find it disturbing that someone was sitting there thinking I was ungrateful for a gift when, in fact, I had received no notification of it. I wonder how many others like that slip through the cracks if there is no other way the notifications come through, except by Justin.

Who is Justin anyway? I've heard rumors about this guy but haven't seen him around here.

Larry. I reiterate, editors cannot see this. It is the first time anyone has mentioned anything like this. I will look at your account.

Lodi, until this thread, no editor had any way of knowing about your issue.

My daughter paid for my (gold) membership as i couldn't come up with anything i wanted for Christmas. It's the best present i've had for christmas, still used every day in March.

Lodi, I am sure that the person in question never for one moment thought you were ungrateful. People are very aware of the problems here - many due to an absentee owner. Anyway, welcome back Lodi - that's the most important thing!

Still is disappointing. I felt really badly when you told me. I mean when the "person" told me and I had no idea. I hope you get your money back. I mean I hope the "person" gets their money back.

I confess. I did it. (Since Justin has gone off the face of the earth and the editors state they can't access this information, it's my story and I'm sticking to it)

I tried to give you a gift membership, but I stipulated that they remove Felix's in return. They said that even though it would pump up the membership that it was against the rules.
