WHAT LITERARY GENRE AND WHY?

Fantasy, because I find reality highly overrated

Oops, the title of this thread was suposed to be What Literary Genre are You and Why. That's what I get for trying to type before I've finished my first cup of coffee.

I prefer biographies or autobiographies - I feel I can learn some life lessons from reading these books.

However, I don't mind an occasional romance or mystery.

I'm usually just grateful when I can stay awake to read anything since I seem to associate reading with sleeping. don't know when that became a habit.

Thrillers because I need a few thrills in my life every now and then.

Satire. Cause I wish I was witty enough, and I don't think I can get more cynical

Really well-researched and beautifully written historical fiction.

Mary Renault, Christian Jacq, Marian Meade, Dorothy Dunnett, Margaret George, Umberto Eco, Diana Gabaldon...

Series are a favorite, recommendations welcome.

Because I love history and a good writer can bring it alive as no biographer can.

Historical fiction. A.B. Guthrie Jr. type stuff. Also John Jakes Kent Family Chronicles and North and South. Louis L'Amour surprisingly wrote some good historical novels when he wasn't doing oaters.
